A male yellow headed blackbird near Oxbow Bend, Grand Teton National Park, USA. Nesting amongst reeds in marshes, the yellow headed blackbird feeds on insects and seeds. Migratory in nature, yellow headed blackbirds breed through the central United States into northern Canada. Winter grounds extend from the southwestern United States well into central Mexico. Common among songbirds, the male is the one blessed with spectacular plumage while females sport drab black and brown feathering. While the yellow headed blackbird is a flagrantly beautiful bird, it’s normal call is entirely non-melodic, raucous and harsh. This baby ground squirrel was one of hundreds that were stalking tourists at the zoo, looking for food. These squirrels are native to that area and are not zoo animals. This is a golden mantled ground squirrel. A thunderstorm passed over and rained for a bit. RaindropsKeepFallingOnMyHead /
The head series begins! First, a lovely deer. With a little licky tongue. Maybe it’s because you taste of salt. What a friendly little deer!
