When you’re a squirrel and you need to eat a little snow is no deterrent…You just have to endure a few flakes stuck here and there and carry on.
This is our dog Mattie. She just loves the snow.
Our animal friends are just as willing to communicate with us as we are with them. All it takes is a open heart – and a willingness to be still enough to listen. / /
Our dog, Pixie, photographed outside in natural light. She had been playing in the snow & I love the snow on her beard here. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS5 (as is, off the camera – no effects added)

After a week of 80 degree temps, we had a spring snow storm – over a foot of snow where the foxes live. And with the snow came photographers. There were over a dozen photographers this morning, many that I know and some that were new to me. Lots of tripods and big lenses. it started out as a slow morning with a few fox sightings here and there, followed by a flurry of fox action, then nothin’ This is the alpha female, and I’m reasonably sure she’s dropped her litter and has been nursing them (some of my other pics this morning showing her tummy look pretty convincing). She does seem to be using the culverts and old drains as a den this season, although Eivor found what appears to be another active den site to the west. Lots of snow and lots of bright light made for some challenging shooting conditions. ..but Noodle is comfy under the covers! Noodle was around two years old when we rescued him from our local pound, where he was in a death row. He is an oriental shorthair and very talcaltive, curious and intelligent.
