The snow leopard (Panthera uncia3 or Uncia uncia), sometimes known as the Ounce, is a large cat native to the mountain ranges of central and southern Asia. The taxonomic position of this species has been subject to change. In the past, many taxonomists included the snow leopard in the genus Panthera, with several of the other largest felids, but later it was placed in its own genus, Uncia. However, most recent molecular studies place the species firmly within the genus Panthera, although the exact position remains unclear. Along with the Clouded Leopard, it represents an intermediate between so-called big cats and smaller species, as it cannot roar, despite possessing a cartilaginous hyoid apparatus which is thought essential in allowing the big cats to roar. Well known for its beautiful fur, the snow leopard has a whitish-tan coat with ringed spots of dark, ashy-brown and rosettes of black . The fur turns white in the winter. Its tail is heavy with fur and the bottom of its paws are covered with fur for protection against snow and cold. The life span of a snow leopard is normally 15-18 years, but in captivity they can live up to 20 years. The looks on the penguins just amuses me, I noticed they have been observing us just as we humans have been observing them. They seem to be a very curious lot of birds. Out of these 7 penguins, did you realise that there’s one penguin which is unlike the rest? :D /

My son’s friend, who lives on a farm at a 5-minute drive from our place, allowed us to make some shots on his family’s property. We decided to go this week and just before leaving the place, I saw my sister photographing the broken window of a door to an enclosed stairway leading down to the cellar. Smiling to myself, I stepped closer, and saw that in fact, she was taking a picture of a barn cat sheltering from the cold on a shelf over the stairs! What a nice find! I could not miss the occasion and made a few shots myself. This necessitated quite a bit of post-processing because there was a bright snow reflection on the window, but the interior was quite dark. I have an old version of Photoshop and I don’t have any HDR software, so making bracketed shots was useless. So I did the next best thing, and applied a fake polarizing filter in Photoshop and played with saturation, curves and levels until I was satisfied. The other problem was finding an angle where the camera and tripod would remain out of the reflection, while still getting a good view of the cat. Finished in 8th position of Top Ten in the Inside vs Outside challenge of the Mood & Ambiance – Strictly Photo group on May 5, 2009

Drew this piece early this month while mending my stall early this month, listening to my ipod cos there’s not much customers on sundays.. I initially thought i’d call this “You can’t see me”... i was a lil confused by my drawing.. so i showed Karin and ask what she thought of it and she mentioned.. “You wish to remain hidden? You can’t see me, or are you saying ’ you won’t see me’ – is this you hiding your heart and your feelings behind the cutest teddy bear I’ve ever seen?” Love Karin!! XD i realised that my drawing’s prolly derived from my daily life at home.. i’m not allowed to express any sadness or anger or stress or pain etc. being too happy is wrong too.. even if i were to express them, she won’t see or acknowledge them.. she’d ignore my pain and agony, even if she’s the one that causes it while he’d worry thinking i’d go nuts anytime.. i miss Brown… PS: i really should be preparing for my stall.. but i got distracted by this while creating printouts for my pendants.. i won’t be logging back in till next monday.. eheh.. sorry.. Was feeling really depressed earlier this week so I started this. Finally finished it today, it’s pretty much how I was feeling. Still fighting those demons, but I am feeling better today.
