  • Cow moose was cooling off and eating moss in Greenough Lake at the foot of the Beartooth Highway in Montana. Each time she went underwater, I snuck a little closer to the shore. The last time she came above the water, she started out, right toward me. I backed off, but got this shot first.

I’ve had a question about the tongue so I thought this bug guy might be pleased to know he’s educating people in his death… The lion has barbs covering the surface of his tongue, which he uses to hold on to meat while eating, and also to remove parasites while he’s grooming! Not many people realise, but the barbs are actually capable of taking the skin off of a human hand if it were to lick you! ...And I’m sure I don’t need to mention the potential damage the teeth could do!!!

  • Rainbow Lorikeet. Rainbow Lorikeets are perhaps one of Australia’s most beautiful species of bird. With their brightly coloured feathers and loud, shrieking calls, they are hard to be missed. This one was extremely curious, and got quite close to the camera. Photo was taken in Tinonee, NSW. All profits from sales of this work will be donated to Wildlife-appeal.
