A work in progress, the Bunny Bot is my first attempt at Vector Style Art. I have hand styled a figure from one of my photos taken at the Tokyo Anime Fair 2008. She is definitely a labour of love and I thought I would never finish her, but here she is. I am not sure if she is an actual anime character or where she originates from. I would greatly appreciate any help to credit her creators and origins. I have not made her available for sale as a print yet as I am stuck on ideas for a suitable background/ home for her to appear in. If she inspires ideas please share. Robo Bunny Bot is available as a T-shirt print. I thought she could easily stand alone in this format.

As far as manga art goes I’m a HUGE fan but new to drawing or creating within that particular genre. Through my own research I’ve come across a few sites that may help, if not inspire those that want to get into the crazy world of manga. A good place to start is with Martin Berube’s introduction into drawing for comics. He has loads of step by step tutorials that will get you comfortable with drawing simple whimsical characters. You get quite a fair bit from how to draw a hamburger to body parts to vector tutorials. From there you can start experimenting by tweaking your drawings a little here and there and slowly creating your own characters. A couple of manga artists worth having a look at are Zutto who is a designer and illustrator. Really awesome work. Very rich in colour and loads of depth. Also Hylton Warburton a graphic designer from SA. Love his creature designs – music monster, swamp monster that has a thing for candy and his deck of playing cards is a must see. Another way really easy useful way of getting help with your manga art is right here on RB. There are members who specilize in kawaii and/or chibi characters Mikoto , Candy Rainbow they do really great stuff maybe drop them a line. Or join the Kawaii Characters Group and squiz around the forums for some info that may help you along your way. This entry was brought to you by the letter B and the number 7.
