  • This was taken at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. This is probably the most different photo I have submitted in a long time. I spend most of my photographing time in the mountains 300 miles from my home. I live less than an hour from L.A. but I rarely venture there. There was an art festival going on and it sounded fun so I went.

  • Ostriches are the world’s largest birds. They have wings and yet they can not fly. However there speed is amazing and there ability to take long strides make them extremely fun to watch. Here, a female ostrich is staring at me simply because I am using a powerful and safe flash to catch his attention. This photograph was taken at the Los Angeles zoo with a 300 mm lens.

  • This is one of my very first sunset shots. The weather has been really nice and has made some very lovely sunsets. I happen to live on a hill which overlooks the San Gabriel Valley and this view is taken just to the south of my house. Downtown LA would be towards the right, facing this image. The sun lit up the sky and I pulled out my tripod quickly and tried to figure out the exposure. I took about 8 photos and this one came out the best. This was taken inside my bedroom. I have a balcony outside my room, but I thought taking it inside the room would be more cool hehe :) This was taken with a Canon Elan, 100mm lens, 35mm film, and shot at f4, 38 secs. taking into account reciprocity failure from the film.

  • The Walt Disney Concert Hall, designed by Frank Gehry to resemble a ship’s hull, was added to the Los Angeles Music Center in 2003. It looks a bit like a stainless steel ship with sails unfurled cruising through the downtown civic center. This particular angle made me think of ocean waves.
