I’ve always loved Margaret Widdemer’s poem, “The Watcher.” I’ve coupled it with an image I took of a steeple of a very old church in Houston, Texas. I hope that those who have suffered the loss of a mother will find comfort in this photo. My mother is still alive and I am grateful for her; I created this image for those whose mothers are no longer with them and who suffer loneliness, especially during the holidays and on birthdays and anniversaries of death.

This is an old one I stumbled accross taken in 2003 on my old Fuji Finepix, and although it is the wrong time of year, as it came to light, I thought I would post it! Even though I say it myself, I do think it is rather cute! This would obviously make a great Christmas card! Taken with a Sony DSC W17 7.2 megapixels compact camera. This camera actually has more megapixels than my DSLR!

This is my little angel statue which survived massive trees falling all around it during Hurricane Gustav. After the storm, when the tree surgeons came to remove the debris that was everywhere, I forgot to tell them that a little angel was under three of the many splintered trees in my yard and that the angel should be moved to safety before they downed the broken oaks. As the giants came crashing to the ground, I remembered and cringed. Now, she’s crushed, I knew. But I was wrong. After the piles of wood were moved away, there was the statue, still intact! It had made it through two calamities! Today, it is a symbol to me of survival, a symbol that miracles do happen. May miracles abound this Christmas and in the New Year. Blessings to all!
The Human Abstract Pity would be no more If we did not make somebody poor, / And Mercy no more could be / If all were as happy as we. / And mutual fear brings Peace, Till the selfish loves increase; Then Cruelty knits a snare, / And spreads his baits with care. / / He sits down with his holy fears, / And waters the ground with tears; / Then Humility takes its root Underneath his foot. / / Soon spreads the dismal shade Of Mystery over his head, / And the caterpillar and fly Feed on the Mystery. / And it bears the fruit of Deceit, Ruddy and sweet to eat, / And the raven his nest has made In its thickest shade. The gods of the earth and sea / Sought through nature to find this tree, / But their search was all in vain: / There grows one in the human Brain / William Blake Thanks you and Production Credits / Photographer Marcus Ranum / Model Tony

Canon Powershot A400 – edited in Picnik The other day I started singing “My Favorite Things” from the movie The Sound of Music and that song always makes me smile. On a whim I decided to take some pics of some of my favorite things in my home and this is one of them. As I was editing, I fell in love with this “angel of prayer” all over again and knew she was meant to dwell on a greeting card. / I really like her shadow, the golden wall color behind her and the simplicity of it. The shadow makes me think of the scripture, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1 Most of you probably know she is from the Willow Tree angel collection. This card is from my heart to the world! / Lynn Addendum – I did not know when I created this card that I was making it for members of my own family. Since I created this card, my grandmother has gone into Hospice care. She is 96 years old, has lived a full and generous life, and is ready to go home and be with Jesus. She has horrible amounts of fluid in her lungs and is in respiratory heart failure. Also, my cousin’s 9 year old son has been diagnosed with Leukemia and will be undergoing chemo and treatment for the next three years of his life. He too has a very strong faith for a very young boy. He and all of his immediate and extended family are trusting God to bring comfort and healing. Grandma and Samuel – “I am praying for you…” is dedicated to you. I love you all very much. / Lynn
