/ Following are the lyrics to the song Turn, Turn, Turn This group was a huge influence on me as a little girl. I adored Judith Durham and her beautiful voice and spirit. I seemed to identify with her, and they were the first group I remember loving….other songs I loved from The Seekers which would take me into a beautiful place, “I’ll Never Find Another You”, “A World of Our Own”, “The Carnival Is Over”, “Morningtown Ride”, “Georgy Girl” ),and “Emerald City” Turn! Turn! Turn! / originally written by Pete Seeger / The Byrds (cover by The Seekers later) To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to be born, a time to die / A time to plant, a time to reap / A time to kill, a time to heal / A time to laugh, a time to weep To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to build up,a time to break down / A time to dance, a time to mourn / A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time of love, a time of hate / A time of war, a time of peace / A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to gain, a time to lose / A time to rend, a time to sew / A time to love, a time to hate / A time for peace, I swear its not too late ‘Inspiration Series’ card by Karin Taylor “Seasons” is a mixed media production on thick water colour paper using ink pastel acrylic charcoal and texta, this portrayal is slightly different from the original piece in that I have added a blue background and highlights digitally. I was going to leave ‘Seasons’ open to your own interpretation, but painting this pic brought back memories of ‘The Seekers’ singing ‘There is a Season….turn, turn, turn…’. If you look closely, you can see the handwritten bible verse in tiny writing around the heads of the three :D Instead of leaving it open for interpretation, as I’m submitting this to The Healing Journey forum for a music/art competition, I will try to explain what the image depicts. This is my family and I am the hands, although the hands also represent God. The boat is a metaphor for our journey through life, and the waters are somewhat turbulent beneath, my family is being supported by myself at great cost sometimes to me personally and God is also supporting…if you like, imagine it is God’s hands super-imposed over my hands, so that I have strength to do what I am called to do, imparting a protective and nurturing boundary around my beautiful family…..making home a sanctuary, and a safe place, it is a labour of love and the weight of carrying and nurturing can be extremely heavy sometimes, but also very rewarding. There is my daughter, my son, and my husband in the boat…and the symbol of the greek cross on the vessel indicates that my family belong to Christ, and we will be Conquerors in this life and in the next, as we pass through all of life’s testing and difficulty, we will be made stronger and have our characters’ hewn and shaped, and wisdom will come as a result. Bonded together through adversity, trial, separation and togetherness, we will learn how to work together as a team to achieve harmony, joy and satisfaction…we will support one another when life’s journey becomes all too hard and we want to give up…then there will be one of us to support the one who is down….and this will be reciprocated later when the other is down….. instead of destroying one another, we will build each other up, and make each other stronger for the fight, for the journey….we will encourage one another all the more when we are failing and losing sight of our goals….we will not give up on one another…and even if the world is not interested in us, we will be interested in one another, and remember one another in prayer and thought and spirit and heart. We will cheer one another one to be courageous and to persevere, no matter life’s challenges. And through each of the seasons of life, birth, death, life, healing, laughing, dancing, moving, scattering, gathering, giving up, giving voice, mending, loving, hating, mourning…..we will stick together and support one another. The symbol is The Greek Cross which is complemented with the first and last letters of the Greek name for Jesus (IC), the first and last letters of the Greek word for Christ (XC) and the Greek word for Conqueror (NIKA). The short bars above the letters indicate that they are abbreviations. ‘There is a time for everything, / and a season for every activity under heaven: / a time to be born and a time to die, / a time to plant and a time to uproot, / a time to kill and a time to heal, / a time to tear down and a time to build, / a time to weep and a time to laugh, / a time to mourn and a time to dance, / a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, / a time to embrace and a time to refrain, / a time to search and a time to give up, / a time to keep and a time to throw away, / a time to tear and a time to mend, / a time to be silent and a time to speak, / a time to love and a time to hate, / a time for war and a time for peace. – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
The Jama Masjid in Old Delhi, India – I believe India’s largest Mosque – one of my favourite buildings in the world. I love Islamic art and architecture. I wanted to create something different when photographing this beautiful building. Architecture pictures can be boring and lifeless – I didn’t want to represent the Jama Masjid in this way, because it is so full of life. I asked the boy in the foreground to run through the flock of pigeons so they would fly upwards, away from the building. It was a nice coinsidence that he was positioned in the doorway. This effect achieved, to me, looks like angels flying out of the Mosque. Angels of Allah.

Watercolor on board Angels! Pure and perfect, the luminous intermediaries between divine and earthly dimensions; recipients of and serving divine will. The spectrum of color in her wings represents a single, concentrated beam of white light entering a prism, and emerging from the opposite side in a rainbow of cascading colors. In just this way, messenger angels receive direct transmissions of resplendent Truth, communicating this Light in myriad languages to all sentient beings. I was in a very positive mood when I painted this one, during a quiet phase when all was well in my own little world. A few months later my dad’s health began its last decline and indications signaled his remaining time was limited. I could almost see ( and certainly sensed ) his life aura fading away during this period, and with it the spirit that was him. During and after that there were some changes in my paintings that only I am privy to. Sometimes, looking back over my work, I recall what was happening in the world and my personal life during the period they were created. Colors and subject matter vary but I recognize the reoccurring patterns. Maybe this is a good reason for us to document our work, so that years later we can remember what would otherwise be forgotten. Here is the birth of a child, there the year of betrayal by a close freind. The winter of deep snow and many storms, a brillant spring, an attack on one’s country, the death of a loved one. Large and small the memories linger, rich and full. The subject matter is irrelevant because on this level the language of imagery is our individual soul -speak. Only the creatrix / creator of these works can summon up these stories from the created material, memories and the emotions they evoke, choosing to share them or not. A powerful medicine, its the artist’s right and choice whether to share this hidden medicine, and with whom…or to keep it silent. May all hearts and minds unfurl, open and prepare to receive and embrace the angel’s message. May we all allow its grace to permeate and saturate both individual and our collective being with eternal, pure light. Like a precious, faceted gem and its sparkle, may humanity become one in the intention and manifestation of unified harmony with one another, earth, and all that dwells upon her. Some artwork for the upcoming Drop To Zero cd coming this summer http://www.myspace.com/droptozero Can you feel them calling? Like a heart that’s built on loss, / Their prison keeps them hostage, / Star e out the car window and watch the mills that pass me by, / The pillars standing tall are lined with ghosts that speak from their dark eyes, / Can we call them wrong? Can we see through canine orbits? / Can we dance the devil’s dance and walk two steps in their shoes? / Desperate killers will hunt, / Fight now, try to keep up, / This town, souls that tried to hide from rain in paper towers, / Sunk down, treading in mud, / This town, lost are raising generations of the losing, / This west of Eden Yahweh had in mind, a city paved in blood of angels, / Can you hear them scatter? Like a roach caught in the light, / They burrow in the shadows, / I look to children’s eyes; they breed an emptiness in stare, / They grow to feed like dogs that eat the blood, breeding anger from despair, / Fallen down, hope that is gone, / Somehow, try to move on, / This town, valley where the damned are who find resolution, / The city burned down but the ghosts survived, smoldering rage on the inside
