HDR image of a Steinway Piano at a friends’ home. She’s quite an accomplished artist herself, she painted the images behind the piano in Tuscany, Italy. It is almost a shame that this instument has not been played in years. This is a re-post of my Silent Night image, this one without the black border. I had taken this to work one day, matted and framed and sold three copies of it that day ….. Taken with Nikon D200 and Tokina 12-24mm lens. Capt. John Davis and Bombardier Lt. Carl Thompson are walking passed their bird to meet the rest of the boys for a few beers. Both can faintly hear music and laughter of men spilling from a tent near the end of the runway. Davis looks back into the setting sun, listens to the big radial engines still ticking from an earlier test flight. The distinct smell of burnt oil still lingers in the air. / “God I love that smell” he thinks to himself. / He gazes down upon the puddles of oil underneath the port and starboard engines. / “Hey, does it look like engine one is leaking more than usual?” John asks, turning to Carl who had his half smoked cigarette in the corner of his mouth. / “It’s been leaking more since Frankfurt”, Carl replies. / “Frankfurt? Yeah, I think you’re right”. Davis can still hear the screams of the waistgunner, when the shrapnel tore through the entire port side. / “Poor Sammy, he never had a chance”, Davis says. / Carl didn’t reply, just walked quietly next to John, the setting sun throwing long shadows onto the tarmac, making them both look like giants. / Both men knew that tonight they indeed feel larger than life, because there is no mission tonight. Image was taken in Washington DC, at one of the many Metro stations. I love the contrast between items in motion and the stationary objects. Processed with Redynamix to give it a slight HDR feel. Taken with Nikon D50 and Nikkor 18-70mm lens.

So I recently returned back to one of my favorite sites to photograph. This is the Whalehead Hunt Club in Currituck, North Carolina. Currituck Lighthouse is also visible on the left. This particular morning was just beautiful, very rare to have hardly any wind coming across Currituck Sound. The reflection turned out awesome, in my opinion. Image has been processed through Redynamix for the HDR look and also had the Orton effect applied. Best viewed in large. / Image made with tripod mounted Nikon D200, Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8, remote shutter release.

This shot was taken on the way home from a motorcycle trip to Dayton, OH. My buddy was getting a little ticked off at my wanting to stop to take this shot, as we tried to outrun the rain. Am I glad we stopped !!! This looked like an old church, that someone then had used as a residence for years. I LOVE the red leather chair on the porch, and the sky was just perfect for HDR. Taken with Nikon D300 and Tokina 12-24mm lens. Post processing included HDR treatment, and some dodge & burn.

New title ideas anybody? Canon 450D / F-stop: 4.5 (-0.3 exposure bias) / Exposure time: 1/25 sec. / ISO-speed: 200 / Focal length: 30mm Cross-processed on photoshop CS3 and I added some noise. Oh yeah, nooise. Basically, I was like, hitting walls all over the place – metaphorically and physically – so my dear Andy set me a challenge to take a self-portrait of myself using one prop (I kinda pushed that a bit..) that reflected how I felt. / I think I like it. / Can I point out that the focus on my face in the negative was deliberate and not a fluke? Quite pleased about that. / A friend thinks this is just TOO out of focus, but I originally thought that just reflected how out of focus I felt. Help me out here – what do you think?
