Steam engine locomotive crossing a railway bridge at night. Headlight blazing the way and smoke billowing from the smokestack.
A man keeps looking at a platform long after the train has already departed. Minutes before, there had been a warm and moving good bye between this man and his lover. A warm embrace followed by tears on both ends. I stayed in the vicinity, moved by this outpouring of affection. As the train finished boarding, the man held on to fence, as if holding onto her as she left. He stayed there long after I left.
Just driving along some back roads in Maryland and came across this huge steel train trestle. So magnificant in it’s size and structure I had to get some shots of it. I’d like to be underneath it when a train crosses just to watch it sway back and forth :) Nikon D80, 17-55 lens, 1/250, f/4.5 @17mm, ISO 400
The source for this piece was Promontory Point, Utah in 1997. I very much liked the juxtaposition of the wagon and the locomotive. I then brought out the texture of the moment through Photoshop giving it a watercolor and oil feel. WC09
The question, “Can I take your photo?” was received with a friendly response. The significance of the King to many people in Thailand is overwhelming. This mother and her child are wearing yellow shirts (yellow is the king’s colour). Furthermore, the mother’s shirt has the King’s symbol on it which shows, not only their respect of the King, but also their patriotism, because respecting the King is a vital part of being a Thai. In the background a picture of the King and the King’s flag can be seen. [Bangkok Train Station]
These photographs were taken over the course of a year, so aptly suitable for a calendar I thought. / The images are a collection of standard high-contast black & white, faux-colour Infrared and high-contrast monochrome infrared, and standard colour with minimal detail.
