... At least for me ! / This picture was taken in Pisaq near Cusco, Peru’ in 2006 ! / The ruins of Pisaq is about 20 miles from Cusco and like the more famous Machu Picchu was an important city during the Inca empire. / It sprawled across three mountains at the altitude of about 3600 mts, offering visitors spectacular views.
The remaining ruins at Chichen Itza in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, are a tribute to the complexity and advancement of the Maya empire. The grounds hold multiple ruins that are now considered the 7th wonder of the world. Truly worth the trip to this area, these ruins are an experience of a life time.

Established in 1931 as a National Monument, Canyon de Chelly is within the Navajo Nation in Chinle, Arizona. The White House Ruins are located on the South rim drive of the canyon. The upper ruin of the White House ruins is located in a cave and the lower ruin rose high on the cliff walls, making access to the upper ruin possible. Canyon de Chelly continues to sustain a living community of Navajo people and is unique among National Parks, as it is wholly comprised of Navajo Tribal Trust Land, home to the canyon community.

By far the most famous fictional ghost ship is The Flying Dutchman. The ship has become synonymous with the phenomenon so that “Flying Dutchman” is often used as a generic term for any apparition-type ghost ship. The term may also refer to a real ship that was reported to be seen – often as an apparition – after sinking, or to a ship found floating with no crewmembers on board. According to folklore, the Flying Dutchman is a ghost ship that can never go home, but must sail “the seven seas” forever. The Flying Dutchman is usually spotted from afar, sometimes glowing with ghostly light. If she is hailed by another ship, her crew will often try to send messages to land, to people long since dead. / Versions of the story are numerous. According to some, the story is originally Dutch, while others claim it is based on the English play The Flying Dutchman (1826) by Edward Fitzball and the novel The Phantom Ship (1837) by Frederick Marryat, later adapted into the Dutch story Het Vliegend Schip (The Flying Ship) by the Dutch clergyman A.H.C. Römer. Other versions include the opera by Richard Wagner (1841) and The Flying Dutchman on Tappan Sea by Washington Irving (1855).

Cirella has had an eventful history which dates back to the Greek and Roman periods. It was raided on various occasions by the Saracens before begin destroyed in 1806 by the French fleet. There are the ruins of a church and a Romanesque bell tower containing the remains of 15th century frescoes. The so/called Mausoleo di Cirella, situated at the foot of the hill, is a tomb from the Roman period. In the medieval church there is a 16th century bust of the Madonna and Child.

FEATURED the ‘Creative Cards’ group / FEATURED the ‘All Things Ancient Eygpt’ group From the ‘Tarzan’ series of books for kids by Edgar Rice Burroughs. This painting shows how music can change the direction of a painting. It started out to be a South American fruit seller, I had this neat travel poster research from Dover copyright free archives. Marie put on a video she had pulled up from UTube, ‘GiTarzan’, this brought back memories. I had all 23 books of the Tarzan series when I was a kid and they were not read just once. I went to see every Tarzan movie with Johnny Weissmuller in it. This painting is the book Tarzan. The Tarzan of unexplored Africa, hidden cities, untold wealth, remains of lost civilazations escaped from the Roman Empire, and Egypt. The music, thats my ‘Tarzan now’. click below for music / gitarzan Note: I just got a reproduction back, the color is outstanding. The brilliant color you see on screen is what you will get Greeting Card / For that bright flash of color or as a conversation piece in your decor use a small ‘Mounted Print’ on a plate easel, chic. Villa Borghese, Rome ! Italy ! Villa Borghese is a large landscape garden in the naturalistic English manner in Rome, containing a number of buildings, museums and attractions. It is the second largest public park in Rome (80 hectares or 148 acres) after that of the Villa Doria Pamphili. The gardens were developed for the Villa Borghese Pinciana (“Borghese villa on the Pincian Hill”), built by the architect Flaminio Ponzio, developing sketches by Scipione Borghese, who used it as a villa suburbana, a party villa, at the edge of Rome, and to house his art collection. The gardens as they are now were remade in the early nineteenth century.
Kyleakin is the first village encountered on the Isle of Skye, when you cross over the bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh…....this is where the old Ferry boat used to land, which I don’t miss at all, romantic it might be, but darned inconvenient !! / The old ruin you can see behind the boats is Castle Moil…......a few facts for you….... “The 14th Century Castle Moil has had many names in its long history. Also known as Dun Akyn (Norse for Hakon’s Fort) and An Caisteal Maol in Gaelic, it is now a romantic ruin. Sited at the Skye end of the road bridge in the village of Kyleakin, the castle has Norse connections. Legend has it that a Norwegian princess, otherwise known as “Saucy Mary”, ordered a chain to be hung from the castle to the mainland so that no boat could pass without paying a tax.” / Nothing new under the sun then, eh ??!! LOL !! A three RAW HDR, shot on my Canon EOS 50D, polarising filter fitted, iso 100, f23, Auto WB, processed in Photomatix, then sprucing up in Adobe Photoshop CS3. / I used HDR because of the extreme light / shadow.
