Eilean Doan Castle one of the Iconic Scotish Castles was just a magic place to visit and photograph. I spent close to 6 hours taking in the surrounds, the atmosphere and the serenity and of course the odd photo or two. Here is one of my favourites, I really like the balance of light and the reflections. I hope you like it too.

I hope I haven’t worn out my welcome but it was one of the most photogenic locations we visited to here is another one.

Romance depicting heroic or marvelous deeds, pageantry, romantic exploits etc Eilean Donan castle bathing in the early afternoon light _As one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognised all around the world. Situated on an island at the point where three great sea lochs meet, and surrounded by some majestic scenery, it is little wonder that the castle is now one of the most important attractions in the Scottish highlands. Although first inhabited around the 6th century, the first fortified castle was built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail. Since then, at least four different versions of the castle have been built and re-built as the feudal history of Scotland unfolded through the centuries. Partially destroyed in a Jacobite uprising in 1719, Eilean Donan lay in ruins for the best part of 200 years until Lieutenant Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap bought the island in 1911 and proceeded to restore the castle to its former glory. This photo was taken in 2007 at Karnak temple (Egypt. Africa). The Karnak temple complex, universally known only as Karnak, describes a vast conglomeration of ruined temples, chapels, pylons and other buildings. It is located near Luxor in Egypt. This was ancient Egyptian Ipet-isut (“The Most Selected of Places”), the main place of worship of the Theban Triad with Amun as its head, in the monumental city of Thebes. The complex retrieves its current name from the nearby and partly surrounding modern village of el-Karnak, some 2.5km north of Luxor. / The complex is a vast open-air museum and the largest ancient religious site in the world. It is probably the second most visited historical site in Egypt, second only to the Giza Pyramids near Cairo. It consists of four main parts (precincts) of which only one is accessible for tourists and the general public. This is the Precinct of Amun-Re, and this it is also the main part of the complex and by far the largest part. The term Karnak is often understood as being the Precinct of Amun-Re only, as this is the only part most visitors normally see. The three other parts, the Precinct of Montu, the Precinct of Mut and the Temple of Amenhotep IV (dismantled), are closed to the public. There also are a few smaller temples and sanctuaries located outside the enclosing walls of the four main parts, as well as several avenues of human and ram-headed sphinxes connecting the Precinct of Mut, the Precinct of Amon-Re, and Luxor Temple. / The key difference between Karnak and most of the other temples and sites in Egypt is the length of time over which it was developed and used. Construction work began in the 16th century BC. Approximately thirty pharaohs contributed to the buildings, enabling it to reach a size, complexity, and diversity not seen elsewhere. Few of the individual features of Karnak are unique, but the size and number of features are overwhelming. Poulnabrone dolmen is a 5,000 year old portal tomb in the limestone Burren area of County Clare, Ireland. The dolmen consists of a massive flat capstone supported on several upright pillars, and would originally have been covered by a mound of earth. Archeological excavations found several traces of human remains at the burial site, which now stands as a stark reminder of an ancient civilisation. Looking back through the mists of time, who knows what ancient religious rites took place at this barren and windswept scene? Winner of the Heritage in Stone group challenge Stone Circles and Standing Stones.

Meet Angelica, my grandaughter and I’m passionnate about my Angel.This pic was taken three years ago when we used to do gardenning together,so many days we spend together then.She’s seven now and we don’t have time together like we used to .I have great expectations for that little girl.She told me a few weeks ago that when she grow up I’ll just have to write books and she will put the images in them.She is very good with drawing and i’m thinking about showing the first steps in photography .She had a camera for Christmas ,i can’t wait to go photo shooting with her.I think about her everyday ,wondering if everything is okay for her ,when I’m with her the time stops and I become a better person ,that’s real love …I took that pic when she was watering the flowers,she was so concentrated,I spend days with her in my garden ,moments I will never forget.I’m still wearing that old green hat 5 years later and Angelica has her own now…. :)) So old but so comfy / I did the Orton effects on that pic,I wanted this timeless feeling of an old photography.

Taken on a section of the Great Wall of China between Jinshanling and Simatai. In the distance you can see the wall rising steeply up over the mountains at Simatai. This got accepted into the ADPA competition in 2007.

We who walk the Earth so gently, / know that this connection, / stronger than the gravity that holds us to her, / brings with it the knowledge of her pain / and the infinite lifetimes of sorrow. / Is this the source of our unknown sadness? This ancient wellspring from within the heart of the Earth… / wells up and breaks forth, flowing through us, / the tears of eternity, the pain of the ancient ones, / a sadness that knows no bounds, / to be set free through us, through our hearts and eyes, / and opening us to receive the flow of awareness, / healing and a renewed potential for life.

The ancient stone circle at Callanish on the Isle of Lewis in The Outer Hebrides is over 4,000 years old and one of the oldest such structures in the world. Though smaller than Stonehenge it is considerably older and is awe-inspiring to visit. Normally seen in sunshine, here we have a photograph taken beneath an umbrella as a storm passsed overhead giving this magical place an altogether unworldly quality.
