Went shooting with Mom today; among the locations we hit was a Czechoslovakian cemetery in Dubina, Texas. Managed to pull off a few good ones.

A revised version of my ‘Middlesbrough Drops’ watercolour painting. The coal drops on the river Tees estuary, in the 1830’s. / In the foreground, is the Tees river ferry – which in those days, was a small, rowing boat. I love the daunting and weird, distant grey structures, ready to drop the coal upon the collier (coal) ships. My version of a Thomas Harrison Hair, 1837 watercolour. Watercolour and HB pencil.
ORIGINAL $300 plus postage and handling This mandala was created after a big breathwork meditation in which I felt the spirits of my grandmothers and greatgrandmothers all the way back to prehistory reach out to me. It was a time of crisis for me and to feel the essence of my maternal history with me, I was able to pass through and come out the other side relatively whole. The mandala symbolizes the presence of my foremothers all the way back to prehistory. The horses symbolize power and freedom. The all seeing eye is open to the wisdom of the past and the challenges and opportunities of the future. The colours are the colours of the earth, the sky, the wind and the rain. It is a powerful meditation tool linking my present with my past. Enjoy:) From the original acrylic on canvas, 20 inch x 20 inch All images are fully copyrighted, all rights reserved. Today 4th November 2008 we commentate one of the saddest episodes of our history, men, women, and children were taken from their land, herded into makeshift forts with minimal facilities and food, then forced to march a thousand miles(Some made part of the trip by boat in equally horrible conditions). Under the generally indifferent army commanders, human losses for the first groups of Cherokee removed were extremely high. John Ross made an urgent appeal to Scott, requesting that the general let his people lead the tribe west. General Scott agreed. Ross organized the Cherokee into smaller groups and let them move separately through the wilderness so they could forage for food. Although the parties under Ross left in early fall and arrived in Oklahoma during the brutal winter of 1838-39, he significantly reduced the loss of life among his people. About 4000 Cherokee died as a result of the removal. The route they traversed and the journey itself became known as “The Trail of Tears” or, as a direct translation from Cherokee, “The Trail Where They Cried” (“Nunna daul Tsuny”). The Beginning Of The Trail – By TKroseverar – And – Coppertrees I would like to add a special thank you to Tammy – For Naming Each Of The 13 paintings I have uploaded to commemorate this day. Please let us take a moment today to reflect on these events and together start a healing process to bond our futures. It is located in Flatwoods, Kentucky, in Greenup County, which lies in the northeastern part of the bluegrass state. Many of my relatives live in or just outside of Flatwoods, and my Dad built this one. / / The scenery from this road is almost surreal, it is so beautiful. Surrounding this road are country farms, barns and old churches. This road winds around a gorgeous mountain cloaked with a variety of lush trees and evergreens, whose leaves are radiant in the Fall of the year with brilliant shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and green. / / At the top of the mountain is the end of this magnificent road, which leads to a private, gated mansion that overlooks the entire county. It is very quiet and peaceful there, and everything, including time, seems to stand still on this beautiful road. It is a breath-taking view from the very top, and this is truly my favorite country road!.. / / / To read and learn more about this special country road, / go to:COUNTRY ROAD

My Cherokee grandmother often visits me in my dreamtime, last evening as the Full Moon approached, her bright pulsating light approached me in my dreams. / There was an intensity that I had not previously noticed within the beating light energy she presents with and her voice was strong. “WindOwl”, she said, “You and your fellow beings will witness the great transformation. It is reshaping the human consciousness and it will be larger than the genesis of humanity. You have seen, in the past few generations, every human experiencing more than their five senses can detect. Their understanding of themselves and their experiences are changing dramatically, as they sense themselves as more than they thought they were, more than bodies and minds, more than accidents in a random universe of inert – dead matter. Everything is an expression of Life, a form of Life – there is nothing but life and we are Life. / With this transformation comes new potential as well as new experiences, a new way of evolving as well as a new way of experiencing ourselves, and a new understanding of power. This new way of evolving is spiritual growth. The old species evolved through survival, now this will not be sufficient. We will long for more than existence, something more significant, for the reason we were born. We will long to touch meaning and purpose and to live them. This new way of understanding power will align our personality with our souls. The old way was through manipulation and control, now counterproductive and producing only violence and destruction. The new potential is the Universal Human, beyond nations, religions, races, sexes and economics – citizens of the Universe whose allegiance is to LIFE.” Her voice paused and she instructed me to breathe deeply, then she continued, “My child, you are to assist in the creation of authentic power, to contribute to the new species that we are becoming by providing support, love and tools that help illuminate the differences between the frightened parts of the personality and loving parts of the personality, revealing opportunities to challenge, cultivate and chosse intentions, consulting intuition and trust the Universe. Teach all you know to experiment with creativity, following your healthiest impulses and use your life consciously and constructively.” Her voice faded, as she showed pictures in my mind of a child being born, a marraige experiencing conflict, the nations economic turmoil to a flower emerging and opening a new vision of interpersonal and social structures built on harmony, cooperation, sharing and reverence for Life. / This was a most beautiful experience that I will treasure today, tomorrow and always…whether a dream or reality, I will heed my Grandmother’s message from the other side and continue to share. / I am grateful to be sharing this journey with you. The time is upon us, yet again, as we look within ourselves to find the new source of Light and regeneration. The Light returns as the Sun shifts and starts moving northward again…Winter! / In the circle of life, Winter represents the North direction, the place of our elders, the ancestors and knowledge. It is the time to honor our growth, by celebrating it and sharing it with others. It is the time when Nature throws you into yourself, so that you have to explore territory that might otherwise be unfamiliar. During this time, we acknowledge the Mother Earth’s renewal, when she’s lying dormant, seemingly asleep and the seeds of one season lie in the Earth energy that will allow them to burst forth into new life, when the warmth of the Sun returns from the South to warm her. / We gather our family and friends together to share and experience the knowledge of “All the Ages”, combining our strengths, talents and abilities to achieve Peace, Balance and Harmony… Seasons of the Heart Wishing each and everyone a Blessed Season of Joy, brotherhood/sisterhood and PEACE!!! In response to blamo’s (Tone) lighting a single red candle at midnight for Peace, this is my contribution… In 1863, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote these words: I heard the bells on Christmas Day / Their old familiar carols play / And mild and sweet the words repeat, / Of peace on earth, good will to men. I thought how as the day had come, / The bellfries of all Christendom / Had roll’d along th’ unbroken song / Of peace on earth, good will to men. And in despair I bow’d my head: / “There is no peace on earth”, I said, / “For hate is strong, and mocks the song / Of peace on earth, good will to men.” Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: / “God is not dead, nor doth he sleep; / The wrong shall fail, the right prevail, / With peace on earth, good will to men.” ‘Til ringing, singing on its way, / The world revolved from night to day, / A voice, a chime, a chant sublime, / Of peace on earth, good will to men! Peace on Earth is a 1939 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer cartoon short subject directed by Hugh Harman, about a post-apocalyptic world populated by animals. Written by Dawnsky2 / This night was calm and still. Above the treetops the stars spoke to one another of times past. The Moon Spirits silver light rested on my shoulder and bathed my soul. Alone was I and becoming at one with the nature. / The orange flicker of the small fire I had made to help me on my quest, held my eyes at its centre. A warm homely feeling fluttered in my stomach and crept slowly to my heart, where it stayed. The crackle and spit of damp wood burning comforted me, my shoulders loosened, I sighed deeply. Resting softly on the palm of my hand was the Crow feather, many of the barbs had parted, rendering it aged and worn. Gently, between my thumb and fore finger I stroked these barbs. Never would they sit together again, but its appearance didn’t matter, it was what it stood for that mattered to me. I closed my eyes and reflected upon a distant memory, one that seemed to be all around me, one that drifted silently upon a fond breeze, and hovered above me with the strength and gracefulness of the Hawk. I knew I would stay strong under his wing. / With the warmth in my face and the smell of my little fire, I was whisked away and a memory brought to the fore. In that instance I had gently slipped, to a Nation elapsed. Upon that fond breeze, furthermost from my minds eye, and shrouded in the finest mist, came a fluttering of feathers. I watched in anticipation as they grew ever closer, ever larger. The Crow feather in my hand became warm to hold, and trembled as if in expectancy of meeting old friends. / Across the mountains to the left, came the familiar light air that would touch my soul; it weaved toward me, with gentle strokes that settled on my face. With it, came the sound of drums beating the rhythm of life, carried on timeless winds. For me the beating drums seemed distant, yet so near, and in my very soul I knew what they were. They were the many beating hearts, of my Ancestors. They would come to Guide me, to walk with me, to teach and show me. A tender blanket of protection draped over my being, wrapping around my very spirit, keeping me warm and safe. And the Spirits of nature spoke. / The Forest of tallest trees heard the beating drums and answered in hushed voices, promising to shelter, promising to provide food and sustain the life within. / Wild horses on the plain heard them. In one huge body they galloped at great speed, the thundering of their hooves echoed in the stillness of this night. Their power emanating from the great strength held in their bodies and spiritual souls. / I glanced down; the coolest most refreshing water touched my bronzed toes. I traced its source with my minds eye. Along the river, women gathered precious water for their families to drink, to nourish their crops and water their animals. More valuable to them was this water, / The Water of Life, than the yellow stone often found in the river. Before my very eyes the crystal waters, so pure and true, turned red. Despair filled my heart and as if something knew I was not ready for this insight, the water instantly became fresh and clear, all but my face and the Crow feathers in my hair reflected upon the rippling surface. / Behind me, in their rustling spirit voices, the trees warned me of a predator, the wolf. I turned to see his cunning eyes lock upon me. He held his head low. I felt sure he thought I would not see him hiding there, but I did and as by some strange understanding that had passed between us, he turned and walked away. Stopping only once, to look back at me. All of a sudden the mists came. The Moon began to fade. The horses thundered away into the dust created by their many hooves, the women walked from their river and became absent. The Forest around me became silent and the Hawk flew back to distant skies. / The only thing that was left was a true feeling of my Ancestors, standing at my side for always, to Guide me, to walk with me and show me. With heavy lids, my eyes opened. My fire had all but gone, just a solitary wisp of smoke slowly ascended, I watched it curl around unseen objects before dispersing. / Through the trees the Sun rose, bringing the earth below alive once again. / A new day had begun, I cradled the insights of a Nation elapsed in my innermost core. / I still held the Crow feather gently in my hand, but now instead on just one, I had two. / Written by Dawnsky2, / for “the Sioux Warrior”

Alas.. last Xmas my friends in Montreal told me this Ancestor passed away .. so a little survey on Google told me something I liked to hare with you : This is what I found out basicly and it all happened in October.. / Mumba, the Granby Zoo’s silverback gorilla, is dead at the age of 48 – about 90 in human years. / The animal was found dead in cage Tuesday by one of his handlers. Mumba apparently died in his sleep of natural causes. / Mumba was one of the oldest and best known gorillas in captivity. According to the zoo, more than 20 million visitors saw him. Mumba was taken into captivity from a forest in Cameroon and was brought to Canada in 1961 when he was 15 months old. / Once here, he was raised by humans who bottle-fed him until the zoo built his shelter. Mumba was the oldest male of his species in captivity in North America. / He enjoyed listening to soft rock and jazz, and watching Scooby Doo cartoons on television. / He had been in poor health in recent years. In July, he was suffering from arthritis and the zoo was preparing for his death. / The average life expectancy of a gorilla is 40 years. Celtic Mandalas are mysterious and embedded with secrets and symbols, offering a unique way to connect with ancient spiritual and aesthetic realities. It was almost hypnotic, even revelatory as I played with this “Triskele” or Triskelion – consisting of three sacred spirals or ‘Trinity’ representative for me of the Sacred Feminine, or Maiden, Mother and Crone energies. Symbolic of the on-going cycle of birth, life and death for the Celts…a primordial power that inspired them to be treated as sacred motifs. Many Native American Medicine Society’s, in almost every tribe consisted of a society of women, or bringers of the rain that nurtures the abundance of their food sources. The Three Sisters ~ corn, beans and squash fed many tribal peoples as a regular staple when game, fish and other crops were not plentiful. The WhirlWind Buffalo Sisterhood began just before Miracle, the white buffalo calf was born in Wisconsin, on August 20, 1994. A rainbow culture promising peace among all nations and all people, stressing equality and opposing any superior race that controls or conquers other peoples. The Unity of all colors, all creeds, all beliefs, working together for the good of the whole and when all pathways to wholeness are respected by all cultures, the prophesy of the Whirling Rainbow will be completed. When the time of the White Buffalo, the third generation of White eyes children will grow their hair and speak of love as the healer of the Children of the Earth. These children will seek new ways of understanding themselves and others. They will wear feathers and beads and paint their faces. They will seek the Elders of the Red Race and drink of their wisdom. These white-eyes will be a sign that the ancestors are returning in white bodies, but they are red on the inside. They will learn to walk the Earth Mother in balance again and reform the ideas of the white chiefs. These children will be tested as they were when they were Red ancestors by unnatural substances, like firewater, to see if they can remain on the Sacred Path. After the time when the buffalo returned, the generation following the Flower Children would see the dawning of the Fifth World of Peace. Appearing to those who see, would be a Sun Dog, or full rainbow circle around the Sun that has bright white lights at the Four Directions, a rare natural phenomena. Enough of the Earth Children will be awakened to carry the responsibility of the teachings and the healing process will begin in full swing. Many will remember their “purpose” for being here on Earth and will develop their gifts to assist humanity. Truth will shatter the bonds of separation and goodness will prevail with tolerance, acceptance and understanding. The WhirlWind Buffalo Sisterhood has consistently sought knowledge that changes lies to truths, that have made us mistrust one another and replace the illusion of separation with the truth of UNITY. In non-violence and peaceful energetic, teach that a worthy opponent will present lessons to make us grow beyond any high drama and into a sense of unity within Self, to then share with others remembering that any challenges to unity are equal to our ability to overcome them. The buffalo symbolized not only the strength of the Whirlwind, but also prosperity and abundance ~ the past 15 years, since Miracles’ birth ~ the Tribe of All Nations has been gathering physically, mentally, emotionally, tribally, socially, morally and spiritually all over the world, even more so with cyber-space communications. Epona was the name given to the horse goddess of the Celts. Her worship, widely popular in territories occupied by Rome, was eventually adopted by the Roman armies as well, who honored her as the goddess who protected their stabled horses, while a similar goddess Bubona was alotted the protection of oxen and other cattle. Although she was honored among the insular Celts in Britain and Ireland, the greater number of inscriptions and statues of Epona come from the continent. She was depicted in three poses; astride a horse, standing beside a horse or (less frequently) lying naked on the horse. When these sculptures and bas-reliefs show her holding an emblem, it varies also: sometimes Epona carries a cornucopia, sometimes a goblet, but most often a round bowl or plate. / Said to be the offspring of a mare and a man, Epona could take the tangible forms of both parents. Sometimes, too, she appeared as a rushing river, which suggests she was a fertility goddess, seen by Celts as water spirits. / Black horse/death; Gray horse/life; White horse/birth-re-birth ~ symbolizing light, life and spiritual illumination. / Self ~ Power/Divine Feminine Epona Photograph of mandala sketch, painted, edited and redfield plug-in fractilius in photoshop7.
