  • Here’s a poster design for a steampunk guitar tube amp I’m thinking of building. The chassis was inspired by a combination of an old tube radio from the 1930s I saw and a Victorian steamer trunk. body would be made from oil finished black walnut and brass with some sort of semi-sheer Victorian style fabric over the speaker. Overdrive, Bass, Midrange, and Treble knobs would be directly linked to the four gauges so that the needle would move higher or lower depending on the position of the knob. The center volume dial would be connected to a large disk similar to the frequency dials in some old radios that would indicate what volume the amp is set to. Switches for turning the amp and overdrive on and off. I’m also considering widening the amp to allow for two 10” speakers side by side instead of the single 15” in the design and possibly adding a second input channel. The top will more than likely have some sort of brass mesh or a brass plate with decorative elements cut into it to allow the glow of the tubes to be seen inside. I’ve gotta talk to a buddy of mine that has designed a number of tube amp circuits to see if I can convince him to work up a schematic for me.

  • For more works: deviantArt — Made with Photoshop paint brushes. / The smudge tool really pulled this piece to a finish. / Obviously. XD — You can tell by my line definition that I’m not going to make digital painting a career. But I’ve never done this before, so first I figured that I’d start with a simple outline, like the bass strings and my face shape, but otherwise, I just made it up as I went along. Because of that I messed up tons (I still didn’t get my skin color right, and I could’ve worked more on my hair) and it took two weeks to finish. ^ ^; — Bass Specs brand: Spector / model: NS body, Professional Series, Legend 5 Custom / scale length: 35” / neck: 3pc Maple, Graphite Rod Reinforced, Set-Neck design / pickups: EMG-HZ passive dual coil humbuckers It was so nicely finished in the factory that all that needed / adjusting was the truss rod, as the action was a bit low. / Good for slap bass, though.
