Click Here / Upper Antelope Canyon – USA Tour 2008 The Navajo name for Upper Antelope Canyon is Tse’ bighanilini, which means “the place where water runs through rocks.” Upper Antelope is at about 4,000 feet in elevation and the canyon walls rise 120 feet above the stream bed. Though dry most of the year, Antelope Canyon runs, and sometimes floods, with water after rains. It is the water, slowly wearing away the sandstone grain by grain, that has formed the beautiful and graceful curves in the rock. Wind has also played a role in sculpting this fantastic canyon. Click Here Upper Antelope Canyon Is a spectacular petrified sand dune, created by wind, water and sand, presenting a sculptured masterpiece. / My Navajo Indian guide was lovely and explained many of the legends associated with this area. I was initially going to use a roadmap from a part of Israel…but then I figured it would better to use Texas! Just not sure why? hmm…hehe Road map for peace The “road map” for peace is a plan to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict proposed by a “quartet” of international entities: the United States, the European Union, Russia, and the United Nations. The principles of the plan were first outlined by U.S. President George W. Bush in a speech on June 24, 2002, in which he called for an independent Palestinian state living side by side with Israel in peace: “The Roadmap represents a starting point toward achieving the vision of two states, a secure State of Israel and a viable, peaceful, democratic Palestine. It is the framework for progress towards lasting peace and security in the Middle East…” Definition from Wikipedia I never was any good at folding maps back up… / Now there is only 999 more cranes to make…till world peace!

This shot was taken in Copacabana in 2006, a little town in the north of Bolivia, situated on the bank of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at 3800 mts. / There was a big celebration in town that day and so much to see and discover. But I was so tired that I decided to sit down and rest for a while when those two men sat just in front of me. I took so many pictures of them but this one is my favorite.

I thought I might say a little bit about how we got these Ophelia shots. Missy is a VERY talented photographer friend of mine (to view her work, go http://missyjanek.deviantart.com/) and she has also modeled for me in the past. I thought she’d be great for this concept, so we started about 3pm yesterday. All was going well until she got in the pool and said “I don’t know how to swim!” So we struggled and propped her up with pool noodles and floaties and Adam even held her legs while she tried to stay afloat. I felt like she really was going to drown a couple of times! (We kept her in the shallow end, of course! and my dog was keeping watch as life guard.) For someone who had not really been in water before, I think she did a great job. :)

I sit here and look out over this world. Disturbed I am by what I see. I had a dream once. A dream where all creatures got along, where respect and honor was strong. Where helping the weaker and less fortunate was not a favor but an Honor. Where one could speak his language with no fear of ridicule. Where one did not have to put on a mask or costume to fit in.I sit here and feel I am so far away and drifitng each day. There is anger in me that I have tried to keep in but everyday when I come up here and look out there it is rekindled. I see the ones searching and wanting to let go but out of fear they stay chained in their own prison. Not fear of failure, but out of fear of what the mass may think of them. I see the ones that want to fight but are not willing to join the fight because if the battle is lost, what will happen to them then. Time is being wasted like it will always be there, but it is slowly going by. Soon the gift of time will be the burden of wasted years. I may come back up here again, but right now I really do not want to. I think my anger is calling for me to take flight and keep searching for them, I feel so far away.
