fall colors on the water
I have a running joke with my husband that in every American movie the Stars and Stripes are featured at least once – we always look out for it!! / / This was taken at a local American (in Australia!) car show. A very colourful graveyard in the market town of chichicastenang, Guatemala.
Autumn in the Rockies is always special and one thing I just love to do is get out on the backroads and explore….and this is one of those shots from doing just that very thing. Captured in the little town of Riverside, Colorado….I wish this place was mine! / Thoughts welcomed!
I love patterns in nature, call me a huge sucker for them. It can be abstraction or realism, but either way I just love em. It ranks up there with textures in nature for me. But when you add a lil light into that, you can get an image that just tends to pop. This one did that very thing to me, when I was out shooting. It really caught my eye….captured on a farm in rural Colorado, in the morning light. / Thoughts appreciated! :)

I couldn’t really think of a title for this shot, I tend to really be bad at doing that and well, the title of this kinda just popped in my head….I was just getting ready to leave Washington Park in Denver, when I happened to glance over and noticed this, and it just sorta caught my eye, the color, the light, the symmetry of the whole scene…so I went ahead and swung my tripod around and shot a few of the scene. Processed in HDR, let me know what ya think! More of my work can be seen on my website at jdebordphoto.com
Boreas Pass, Colorado…..one of my favorite places on the face of the Earth to shoot at….the fact that there is hardly anyone ever up here and the fields of Wildflowers go on forever really make this quite an extraordinary place. Located on the Continental Divide, it reaches an altitude of 11,481 feet high. The pass was formerly known as Breckenridge Pass in the 1860s, when it served as an early route for thousands of prospectors during the Colorado Gold Rush who crossed from South Park to look for gold in the valley of the Blue around Breckenridge. In 1866, it was widened to a wagon road that accommodated stagecoaches. In 1882, under the direction of Sidney Dillon of the Union Pacific Railroad , the Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad (by then controlled by the Union Pacific) begun laying narrow gauge tracks up the pass, which Dillon renamed in honor of Boreas, the Ancient Greek god of the North Wind.

My take on Shepard Fairey’s phenomenal Obama Hope portrait for Australia’s slightly lower key leader. Take from it what you will. If you want specific text below it can be done. There are more versions of this vector image, including the same in green and just his head, both look great and if you want them on a shirt just ask.

On the right side of the road, the flat land is bordered by the eastern face of Mitchell Mesa, rising 1,000 feet above. A side track forks north near Merrick Butte, but like all back roads in the park this may only be traveled as part of a Navajo guided tour. Featured in “AMERICA’s National Parks and WILDLIFE Habitat” – June 2009. Featured in “Utah Landscapes” – July 2009. A reflection in the pool of water at the base of Neon Canyon’s Golden Cathedral. This angle shows only a small part of the sandstone wall surrounding this large alcove in the Utah desert. The green areas are plant matter growing on the vertical rock wall. Changes to original photo include: moderately increased red and green, greatly reduced blue, slightly increased saturation and reduced brightness. Normally this is a reddish brown sandstone which can appear “golden” but probably not in quite this shade!
