Colorado is certainly known for it’s parks, and this one I happened upon out of the blue one day….it really is a majestic site, with these odd rock formations just jetting straight up from the earth, as if reaching for the sky. Garden Of the Gods Park, outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is without a doubt one of my all time favorite places to shoot at….the light there just dances, especially during the golden hours just after sunrise…..Pike’s Peak is in the background, with the wind blowing the snow into the sky. / Thoughts welcomed! Background Information: / Monument Valley is located on the southern border of Utah with northern Arizona (around 36°59′N, 110°6′W). The valley lies within the range of the Navajo Nation Reservation, and is accessible from U.S. Highway 163. The Navajo name for the valley is Tsé Bii’ Ndzisgaii (Valley of the Rocks). / The area is part of the Colorado Plateau. The floor is largely Cutler Red siltstone or its sand deposited by the meandering rivers that carved the valley. The valley’s vivid red color comes from iron oxide exposed in the weathered siltstone. The darker, blue-gray rocks in the valley get their color from manganese oxide. / Monument Valley has been featured in many forms of media since the 1930s. Sedona, Arizona, USA 2008 Was so focussed on getting to this river before sunset , such a rushed hiked that I lost my bearings on the return trip and nearly spent the night out here !! Was rather daunting but incredibly beautiful nonetheless. I now make sure I have plenty of time either way, perhaps I should invest in a compass and a star chart LOL

Lost in Utah would have been a more apt title after the GPS affectionately known as “Dorothy” lead me to a graveyard instead of a lake lol. I discovered some gorgeous countryside along route. There is nothing better than getting lost :))

I like to admit i have hope in the changes taking place in America. I normally don’t align so politically like this, but here i feel it is due. Truth be told only time will tell if one man can bring all the embodied hopes for positive changes to an entire nation without too much compromise. I admit to normally being the first to use america as a symbol of excess. But here i see a symbol of success…and where there is hope i see fit to encourage it. And that was a great quote! Cheers NFA.

Rockhopper This species of penguin occurs in subantarctic waters of the western Pacific and Indian Oceans, as well as around the southern coasts of South America. The Southern Rockhopper Penguin is classified as Vulnerable species by the IUCN. Its population has declined by about one-third in the last thirty years. Their common name refers to the fact that unlike many other penguins which negotiate obstacles by sliding on their bellies or by awkward climbing using their flipper-like wings as aid, Rockhoppers will try to jump over boulders and across cracks.

One od the many views within Antelope Canyon. A must see for any photographer visiting the area around Page, Arizona. / The light entering the canyon is quite faint by the time it reaches the floor and exposures of 1-10 seconds is not unusual. This particular image was shot at f16, ISO200, and a 5 second exposure. / Image taken with a Nikon D70

Title from a certain Chris Isaak song… I haven’t been taking a lot of photos whilst enjoying my stay in San Francisco but this little visit to a certain bridge we all know, made the fact that I hadn’t been out not matter to me at all, I absolutely loved this spot and I can’t wait to come back to this great city and explore it a little bit more… Without a doubt this is already one of my favourite photos out of the many thousands I have taken over the past 18 months or so, thanks for looking :D / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm IS.
