Livin’ On The Edge Mt Evans, Colorado 14,240 feet high, and here were these Mountain Goats standing right on the edge…...quite a long ways down I might add. The Mother was NOT real pleased with me by any means, well, more with my German Shepherd Klaus, but almost took out her frustrations on yours truly. Her young found me quite curious as I stood in the middle of the road, outside of the car snapping this, and started approaching me. He was maybe only 10 feet away and slowly started getting closer, when all the sudden my dog happened to realize from the back seat what was going on, and went complete ape. I am guessing he must have thought baby Mountain Goat was a threat to me. About that time, Mom came running over and put herself between me and her young, staring at me, deciding what to do. Well needless to say I backed up slowly behind the car and Klaus by this time was none thrilled at all, I think if she would have charged, my dog would have gone through the glass lol However on the flip side, he did get their attention which made some for some pretty dramatic images Minolta 5D / Minolta 75-300 D Lens

I am such a sucker for old Barns, especially red ones….sad thing is that we don’t see many here in Colorado….captured on a windy and snowy day along the Peak to Peak Scenic Highway

Autumn in the Rockies is always special and one thing I just love to do is get out on the backroads and explore….and this is one of those shots from doing just that very thing. Captured in the little town of Riverside, Colorado….I wish this place was mine! / Thoughts welcomed!
I love patterns in nature, call me a huge sucker for them. It can be abstraction or realism, but either way I just love em. It ranks up there with textures in nature for me. But when you add a lil light into that, you can get an image that just tends to pop. This one did that very thing to me, when I was out shooting. It really caught my eye….captured on a farm in rural Colorado, in the morning light. / Thoughts appreciated! :)
Captured out on the plains of Eastern Colorado at Sunset, they just went on for miles and miles….like a fantasy world of never ending Sunflowers..processed in HDR
Standing like a sentinel on guard, this male Coyote in Rocky Mountain National Park glances over his shoulder as he hears something behind him. I managed to captured him when he was prowling around the area for prey, such a gorgeous animal, with the late day sun hitting him perfectly. His eyes are just stunning….. —-—-—-—-—-—-—— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. 3d digital art render of a jaguar hunting from the trees, deep in some south american Jungle.
Colorado is certainly known for it’s parks, and this one I happened upon out of the blue one day….it really is a majestic site, with these odd rock formations just jetting straight up from the earth, as if reaching for the sky. I was also lucky enough to capture the distant clouds as they were building for afternoon thunderstorms, later that day….spose you can say I like the sense of drama that they add to the image overall. / HDR processed, thoughts most welcomed! —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Golden Gate Bridge illuminated at night, San Francisco, California, USA
Nestled outside of Copper Mountain in Colorado, this caught my attention fast as I was coming back home to Denver. It literally came out of no where, and thus I slammed on the breaks and made a B-line for the shoulder of the road. This was an utterly incredible scene, looking like it has never even been touched by man…..standing here looking at this, was nothing but absolute paradise….. / --John —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com
Garden Of the Gods Park, outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is without a doubt one of my all time favorite places to shoot at….the light there just dances, especially during the golden hours just after sunrise…..Pike’s Peak is in the background, with the wind blowing the snow into the sky. / Thoughts welcomed! Boreas Pass, Colorado…..one of my favorite places on the face of the Earth to shoot at….the fact that there is hardly anyone ever up here and the fields of Wildflowers go on forever really make this quite an extraordinary place. Located on the Continental Divide, it reaches an altitude of 11,481 feet high. The pass was formerly known as Breckenridge Pass in the 1860s, when it served as an early route for thousands of prospectors during the Colorado Gold Rush who crossed from South Park to look for gold in the valley of the Blue around Breckenridge. In 1866, it was widened to a wagon road that accommodated stagecoaches. In 1882, under the direction of Sidney Dillon of the Union Pacific Railroad , the Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad (by then controlled by the Union Pacific) begun laying narrow gauge tracks up the pass, which Dillon renamed in honor of Boreas, the Ancient Greek god of the North Wind.
Moraine Valley, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…. I also will be uploading a color version of this at some point. I really wanted a B&W though for the dramatic light play, it was utterly dramatic in the first light of the morning….scenes like this are just what I live for, and the shadow in the bottom I intentionally made sure to shoot ‘in’ the shot, as I wanted the hint of the split rail fence. Well let me know what ya think! I am groovin’ on HDR B&W I think though / —John

A Sunrise Over Golden Captured overlooking Golden, Colorado from Lookout Mountain / I went ahead and set the scene up and was thinking “Oh ya, maybe I should try using my filters!” and wallah, this is the outcome! It was a cold morning to say the least, and once again my damn tripod was like a flagpole one licks when it is below freezing lol You have to love the feel of cold, icy steel on bare skin! It is so much fun! NOT! lol But I think it was pretty much worth it. On the right side of the road, the flat land is bordered by the eastern face of Mitchell Mesa, rising 1,000 feet above. This to me gives this sacred place the feel I was looking for. It is in northwestern New Mexico in the Four Corners area where New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Utah all meet and is a very sacred place to the Navajo people.
