Feature Image – AMERICA’s National Parks and WILDLIFE Habitat Group / Feature Image – America’s Natural Wonders Group / Lower Yellowstone Falls is simply a spectacular waterfall that drops 308 feet. It is located along the Yellowstone River below canyon Lodge and is easily viewed from both sides of the canyon by road and by hiking all along Uncle Tom’s Trail. I was in total awe when after trudging through the very slippery ice track I then to come face to face with this amazing vista. It really blew me away. . The Buttes at Monument Valley are immediately recognisable icons of the American south west. Taken just prior to sunset with a Nikon D70 751 Views on the 5th Nov 2009
This image of the Right Mitten framed in between two rocks shows the shadow of the Left Mitten falling across it. The Sky was doing some amazing things behind me and I noticed that most people had truned for the sunset. I steedfast remained shooting into the park. The change in colour taking place in the Valley as the sunset came closer was amazing. The right rock is slightly burned in but I am not one to play in Layers. This is a 3 image HDR given only a slight adjustment. The resulting image was then processed in CS3 with a slight adjustment to straighten the horizion and curves to add a little extra contrast. All 3 images to make the HDR were shot with a Nikon D70 Featured in That One Great Shot / Featured in Top Shelf Wildlife & Nature Art ! / Featured in Mornings and Evenings / Featured in American Southwest / Featured in Dimensions 588 views on the 5th Nov 2009

Mesa Arch, in Canyonlands National Park, Utah, faces east and is a perfect location for a dramatic sunrise image. The clouds blocked the horizon at sunrise, but my patience was rewarded when the sun suddenly broke through a small gap in the clouds for a brief moment.
Taken in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA. Pretty much a tourist snapshot of the Falls, which I thought I would share with you ! / A rather crowded place, justifiably so, who wouldn’t want to see this sight ? The Canyon has some amazing colours, and I found the best time was towards evening to be viewed at it’s best. The vertiginous slopes are very loose and crumbly, and I wondered how those trees maintain their perilous foothold !! Shot on a Canon EOS 40D, polariser, tripod, f22, 1/3 sec, iso 100, auto wb, RAW file processed in PS CS3, levels/curves/selective colour adjustments.
