  • Lest we forget… God Bless America… patriotic music stirs feelings of love of our country, but also feelings of love for our God who continues to bless us! My daughter shot this using some of my patriotic sheet music we ran through the copier on parchment paper to get the yellow look. Add a clarinet and a misted rose, and the pic was complete.

  • The highways were packed on this trip home due to holidays. So, I decided to try something different and drove the 100+ miles from my home north of Atlanta to my folks house south of Macon using surface roads. No interstate expressways. The Atlanta part was interesting. It’s not like old highways were straight, but I’m pretty sure the city of Atlanta and the interstates that runs straight through downtown had broken it up even worse. It was a maze of poorly marked streets. It began to get dark by the time I got out of the city proper, but I took “0ld 341” just because I wanted to see what Culloden looked like since it was apparently named for the Scottish battlefield I had visited months before. In the twilight, I managed to take a long exposure of this lovely old gas station decaying along the side of a forgotten highway.

  • Public phone Costa Rica – Young school children play with public phones at Playa Del Coco, Guanacaste region in Costa Rica on Independence Day. They used the time of getting / for the parade just fooling around with the phones. Being on the other side of them, I couldn’t resist… / / /

  • Nestled outside of Copper Mountain in Colorado, this caught my attention fast as I was coming back home to Denver. It literally came out of no where, and thus I slammed on the breaks and made a B-line for the shoulder of the road. This was an utterly incredible scene, looking like it has never even been touched by man…..standing here looking at this, was nothing but absolute paradise….. / --John —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com

  • My husband is American Indian, I did this for him. Our country stands for freedom, yet we took their freedom away from them. Our country stands against genocide, yet we almost did this to them. Our country put these people in reservations, that really resembled concentration camps. Our flag has every strip and star stained with Indian Blood. Our country’s history speaks for itself. © copyright 2009 All Rights Reserved. / You may not use, replicate, manipulate, redistribute, or modify this t-shirt without a written signed contract. • This image was captured from Olmsted Point in the high country of Yosemite National Park just before sunset. Half Dome is a true natural wonder of the world in itself and was lit with this wonderful light from the setting sun. Needless to say I was very fortunate to have been “at the right place at the right time”, which is what landscape/nature photography is mostly all about. All content & images © Stephen Vecchiotti. • Nothing like the sound of a rooster crowing to greet the morning and the smell of coffee percolating in the pot. Simple pleasures like these make me happy.

  • Words for MY COUNTRY / By: Dale Crum / My Country is called AMERICA… the Land of the FREE and the Home of the BRAVE… My Precious FLAG is RED; dyed in the most costly pigment on planet earth… millions of gallons of rich royal crimson blood… Freely spilled from the hearts of the bravest men, and women our fair land had to offer… and WHITE… the color of blank pages of great hopeful anticipation, for the next wondrous chapters of our grand history yet to be written… and Blessed BLUE… the hallowed Star-filled night sky looming over us all… The indigo heavens which the fallen last looked upon… through blood flooded eyes… whispering brave cries of love… knowing the sparkling kisses of these same fading stars… tenderly cloak their loved ones back home… for whom they willing laid down their precious lives… TRUEST PATRIOTS ONE AND ALL! / I DO THIS DAY CREATE THIS PIECE IN HONOR OF THEE! WOE BE UNTO ALL those who would to denigrate, defile, and slander one drop of their blessed crimson flow… mistake not our pause… as a sign of weakness or of falling… but as a time of prayer and calling… unto the One who forged this land of Blessing, of Protection, of Freedom… for we have been faithful guardians over planet earth… the strong arm of bravery when tyrants sought to oppress… What color flag is it that bludgeoned eyes long to see rise ore the burning horizons of a million scorched hills? Tis the Red, and the White, and Star Kissed Blue! None other flag has given such great hope… none other flag has rescued more prisoners… none other flag has paid such a horrible price… none other flag but mine. Buzzard Fools are circling my flag this darkening day… smelling the air for the stench of death… brushing my sacred banner all too closely… roosting in trees rooted in treasonous bloated bellies… BUT HEAR ME WELL YE COWARDS… THIS EAGLE IS NOT BROKEN… SHE STILL SOARS… AND NOW ROARS OUT HER WARNING… HERE AND NOW… AND FOREVER MORE! SHE IS AMERICA… AND SHE IS MY COUNTRY!

On the right side of the road, the flat land is bordered by the eastern face of Mitchell Mesa, rising 1,000 feet above. A side track forks north near Merrick Butte, but like all back roads in the park this may only be traveled as part of a Navajo guided tour.
