Mooney Falls is a waterfall on Havasu Creek, in the northwest corner of the U.S. state of Arizona, near the town of Supai in the Havasupai Indian Reservation. It is named after prospector D. W. “James” Mooney who fell to his death trying to cross the canyon on a homemade ladder. Local Native Americans called it “Hualapai” or “Hualpai” falls. It is located about 1 kilometre downstream (i.e. to the north) of Havasu Falls, just past the large campground that lies between the two falls. Mooney Falls is accessible with considerable difficulty down a very steep trail (including two rock tunnels) that has been cut into the rock. Chains and a ladder at the bottom assist, but spray from the falls coats the dust-covered rock with water and reddish mud that makes climbing treacherous.

Tufas are limstone formation that only built up under water; because water level has been drained to provide drinking water to Southern California Tufas are now visible outside of water. Mono Lake lies in the High Sierras just outside the eastern entrance of Yosemite National Park.

This is a ruby red lacewing butterfly, and the way it had it’s proboscis inserted into the flower made me think of that moment when we first get a nice thick milkshake, and we are sucking hard on the straw, fighting against the frozen delight to extract it’s sweet creaminess!

Wild deer in Yosemite National Park – USA I spent ages with a group of these deer. Walked slowly to approach, after approx 15 mins i was surrounded by them, couldn’t shoot as they were too close, one just 10cm away, so we just hung out together until the cold drove me inside. Was a beautiful experience. They have the most gorgeous eyes :)) I loved every minute in Yosemite. My dog River posing for a portrait in the snow. She has ALWAYS liked her picture being taken since she barely opened her eyes at two weeks of age. Her litter mates ran around when the camera aimed at them but she stood in attention every time a photo opportunity showed up! :) I’m sure she’d be glad that I donate the proceed of the sale of her photos to Nature Canada as she loves woods and her deer friends as much as I do! :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Nature Canada.

Colorado is certainly known for it’s parks, and this one I happened upon out of the blue one day….it really is a majestic site, with these odd rock formations just jetting straight up from the earth, as if reaching for the sky.
