The 17th Century Bridge House over Stock Ghyll (a tributary of the River Rothay) is one of the most photographed scenes in Lakeland, and is now a shop and information centre for the National Trust. St Mary´s Church, Ambleside, in the beautiful English Lake District. Built between 1850 and 1854 in the Early Gothic style. The architect was Sir George Gilbert Scott. It was not as ornate as many Victorian churches, and was one of the first in the North to incorporate ideas from the Oxford Movement. Unlike many Lakeland churches, it has a spire, and is built of sandstone which was more easily worked than the local slate. Fairfield is a fell in the English Lake District. It is the highest of a group of hills in the Eastern Fells, standing to the south of the Helvellyn range. Featured in the Your Magic Place group JULY 2009.
These falls are at the foot of the Stock Ghyll Waterfalls near Ambleside, Lake District, UK. The main falls at the top are what attracts the tourists but they are not as photogenic as these.
