“The eyes of this friendly horse captivated me. Keeping a short distance from my face, he looked at me intently with an inquiring eye. The afternoon sunlight was golden and bathed his coat in a sheer layer. The mane flew softly around his pretty face while he demanded to be given a carrot with steady hoof stamps in front of me. / / I had no carrots, yet a friendly pat on his velvety muzzle earnt me a swift amicable slurp from his soft lips. BEST VIEWED LARGER Berrys Bay is located on the Northern shore of Sydney Harbour . The harbour has many bays and tributaries. Berrys Bay /Balls Head Reserve can be reached by train from the city, you alight at Waverton Railway Station. The former BP Berry’s Bay bulk fuel storage and distribution terminal is located on the cliffs and foreshore area of Balls Head/Waverton Peninsula approximately 1.6 km northwest of the Sydney CBD. The site was operated by BP Australia as a fuel storage and distribution facility from the early 1920s. BP’s operations ceased in 1993 and the tanks were demolished in the mid 1990s. Premier Bob Carr announced in 1997 that this site, together with the Coal Loader and Caltex Sites on the other side of the peninsula would be preserved as Public Open Space It now has been returned to the public, as part of Sydney Harbour National Park, as you can see it is a magical site with wonderful panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge , Sydney Opera House (you can see under the bridge) the Sydney Skyline. Thank god governments make some good decisions returning open spaces to the people not the Developers. And yes England did send convicts to Australia for punishment Equipment used : Nikon D300, Nikon 18-200mm lens, no filters and processed using Photomatix My continuing journey into HDR continues !

F111 at the Amberly Air show yesterday. Quite surprised at how close they flew while doing the dump, this was only shot with a 135mm lens (with a small amount of cropping). Good show, lots of people though.

There are many myths surrounding the origin of amber. In Greek mythology, Ovid wrote about Phaethon, who convinced his father Helios, the Sun God, to allow him to drive the chariot of the sun across the sky for a day. He drove too close to the earth, setting it on fire. To save the earth, Zeus struck Phaethon out of the sky with his thunderbolts, plunging him into the sea. His sisters (the Heliades, the daughters of Helios, the Sun), turned into poplar trees on the bank of the Eridanus River, “Where sorrowing they weep into the stream forever. And each tear as it falls shines in the water, a glistening drop of amber.” Created in Apophysis 7X with postwork done in Photoshop to enhance the lighting and transparencies of the design.
