part of a ttv (through the viewfinder) series Theory: / TTV (Through The Viewfinder) photography is when you use an old medium format camera and a digital camera. / These old medium format twin reflex cameras have large viewfinders. Firstly you compose your image using the medium format camera (in my case i have used a mamiya c33) then you actually take the picture using a digital camera (here i use my pentax K10) of what is in the viewfinder of the old camera.

Featured in 100% and in All Animals Great and Small. This is a rare bird, a beautiful bird. I am almost in tears as I write this. She is alone, a long distance from others of her kind. She is the first recorded visitor of her kind to Vancouver Island, and I had the good fortune to see her and to capture this image. Nikon D300, Nikkor f4 600 mm lens, f10, 1/400s.
I have just been featured in; The Urban Wildlife Group and The Nikon DSLR Users Group I went for a walk today over to the Forty Hall Estate in Enfield for a couple of hours and this beautiful male Mandarin Duck was gliding gracefully across the lake with his female in tow. I was so happy the way this one turned out. The weather was a little overcast but that gave a fantastic balanced light making the colour of this lovely duck stand out really well. I hope you like the shot and thank you so much for viewing my work, please come again soon. NIKON D60 DSLR / F-stop f/4.8 / Exposure time 1/640 sec / ISO speed 800 / Focal length 180 mm on a 70 – 300 mm Nikon lens / Shutter Priority Maybe you like this one better? I Am I am calling to you from afar; / Calling to you since the very beginning of days. / Calling to you across millennia, / For aeons of time- / Calling-calling. Since always. It is part of your being, my voice, / But it comes to you faintly and you only hear it sometimes; / “I don’t know,” you may say. / But somewhere you know. / “I can’t hear,” you say, “what is it and where?” / But somewhere you hear, and deep down you know. / For I am that in you which has been always; / I am that in you which will never end. Even if you say, “Who is calling?” / Even if you think, “Who is that?” / Where will you run? Just tell me. / Can you run away from yourself? For I am the Only One for you; / There is no other, / Your Promise, your Reward am I alone- / Your Punishment, your longing / And your Goal. / -Anonymous Image copyright © 2009 Shanina Conway. / Copying and displaying or redistribution of this image without permission from the artist is strictly prohibited

a bird on a barbed wire fence in Lawton OK. This is very near my home… Nikon D80 / May 7, 2009] We have birds making nests in our bbq if we leave the lid down. When I open it, I find bits of trash that they have collected along with the straw and twigs. We should all pay more attention to where our trash is ending up and maybe trying to buy “Naked Products” which are products with a little to no packagins as possible. Buy local and aways recycle! ;)

Placed 7th in the Best Of Featured Blue Works challenge. Recently I was asked where I get my inspiration from, and to be honest, I have no real answer to that. Sure, I could say the music I listen to, the stories and poems I read, but that doesn’t really explain why certain images and ideas come to me. Reality has never really done it for me, and I remember being a young child who wondered why life had to consist of only the normal, boring, everyday routine. Why did I have to live vicariously through films like “The Little Mermaid” and “Alice and Wonderland”? Why couldn’t I make this abstract longing for the surreal and the impossible come to life on my own terms? My dream has always been to give life to the ideas that come to me, to make them visible. Tangible. I live my dream every day. Stock Credits / Model / Background from ImageAfter.com / Stock copyrights remain the property of their respective owners.

/ the real me / for the Happy Challenge – my happiness rating out of 10 points is 7.5 gradually inching my way up to 10 lol / / original pencil drawing (coloured in photoshop) / Yesterday I added “Spectrum 7.0” to red bubble but have since renamed it Inner Child as after I talked with you all and listened to your comments, the title seemed more appropriate. I just wasn’t so happy with “Inner Child”... i felt i must be able to do something better than that, and Paul McClintock’s brilliant portrait, inspired me so much, that i forgot to go shopping today, am still in my pj’s and pushed myself hard to produce something more professional and more worthy of the challenge. So here’s my new self portrait for the Happy Challenge in which you have to rate yourself on a scale from 1-10 (1 being seriously depressed, 10 being the happiest) and then create self-portrait expressing that state. Any artistic medium/technique is allowed. It’s called …..’as I am’ I drew this from a photograph I have from one of my avatars, i did what Paul said he did, worked from looking at it on the computer, and was able to create a better likeness this way, than from trying to draw myself ‘live’ in the mirror. I tell you what, it’s the scariest process for me to try, because i get so down if i stuff things up, and with a portrait there’s no room for really making a mess of it, you just have to get a likeness in there…. I am very very very proud of this… I am definitely a little plumper, but there is something very much me here…I hope you like it… The challenge doesn’t open for another 5 hours so get your pencils out everyone and start your portraits!! :) In the portrait I am wearing one of my favourite necklaces which is a glass disc with art by Frozenfa called Dear Pillow from her Silentcries gallery here on Red Bubble The Challenge is opens for entries soon.
