I fell in love with the ceramic street-signs around the old centre of Antigua Guatemala. The bright red of the stopsign and the different textures of the little ceramic plates, the brickwork and the crumbling plaster all really appealed to me. An odd shot- especially in my portfolio, but one that I enjoy. May 2007.
I played the alto sax for about 5 years, lately I’ve been really desiring to pick it back up. I get inspired thinking of the greats playing this instrument under the lights in nightclubs, street corners and grand stages across the world. This is a close up of another piece I’ve posted before. Done on scratchboard with marker accents.
As he throws his soul into his song, the dark, coolness of the night is overpowered by his radiating glow. He artistically plays his music night after night, with each moon he gets closer to joining the list of the jazz legends who’ve gone before him.

Schloss Brunnenburg is a castle in the province of Bolzano-Bozen, in northern Italy, exactly in Tirolo. Originally built circa 1250, it was completely restored by Boris and Mary de Rachewiltz, who made it their home in the mid-20th century / Mary de Rachewiltz is the daughter of the poet Ezra Pound and the violinist Olga Rudge. Pound stayed at the castle in 1958 on his return from America and wrote the last 6 of his 116 "Cantos" of The Cantos. He died here in 1972. / Today the castle is not only home to the de Rachewiltz family, but also houses "The Ezra Pound Centre for Literature" where students come from all over the world to study the poet’s works.
