A simple little place near my home where I like to go and think, get back in touch with myself and nature. I call it my thinking spot and it brings me great peace alone with anyone else I have ever shown it to. This photo is actually flipped horizontally and obviously the colors were altered to give this shot the emotions that had hold of me at the time.
Belisama rises from flames and reaches to the blue sky. It’s a 6” x 12” canvas of acrylic paint, handmade, and commerical papers collaged with gel medium. From my goddess series, Belisama or “Summer Bright” was a goddess of the ancient Celts. She was a goddess of fire, forge, and crafts. There is evidence that she is related to the Roman goddess Minerva, which makes sense if you consider the interrelatedness of cultures during the expansion of the ancient Roman Empire into Gaul and Britain.
This is a manipulated photo of white roses (taken with Sony Cybershot 4.1) that were grown in my garden. I am so pleased with the final texture! / This artwork was featured in the group Stillness Speaks. / Many thanks to the hosts for their kind attention
In it’s original form this was a group of tulips growing in front of my home. / As of November 27, 2009 ~ 721 views /

We all can certainly agree that the small child we all once were is oneself, but can we agree that me now and me then are actually the same person? Does every decision we make, everything that changes us transforms us into someone else, an ever changing never ending creation of personas? /
A pagan witch stands on the alter of the snake to make her offering
Photoshop “painting” of sunrise over pond reeds created with many layers of texture /
This was a drawing done / with a white painter’s pen on Winsor & Newton Black Paper (140gsm). Would make a great card to say “I love you” or for Valentine’s Day or any other day. Then it was processed with Photoshop Elements. I have been doing some mosaicing and this led me to treat the drawing to imitate my tile work. Instead of two colours it now has about 50 colours or shades. The heart is no longer just drawn but neither is it digitally created. Thanks to Bits & Pieces for featuring this work, / I much appreciate the encouragement. A heart should be soft / but many are hard as rock A heart should be giving / But many don’t seem to be living A heart should be loving / Not hardened against emoting

Inspired by Rumi’s writing: This Marriage / May these vows and this marriage be blessed. / May it be sweet milk, / this marriage, like wine and halvah. / Msay this marriage offer fruit and shade / like the date palm. / May this marriage be full of laughter, / our every day a day in paradise. / May this marriage be a sign of compassion, / a seal of happiness here and hereafter. / May this marriage have a fair face and a good name, / an omen as welcomes the moon in a clear blue sky. / I am out of words to describe / how spirit mingles in this marriage. / ...........Kulliyat-i-Shams 2667 Original 4” x 4” x 1.5” chunky gallery-wrapped canvas; acrylic, layers of text, maps, transparency of a family photo of my paternal great-grandparents.

This is a window in an historic building at the northern tip of Montreal Island. It’s still boarded up for the winter even though spring is well underway.
Photograph altered in Photoshop 7 to create a ‘vintage’ look. This was my first attempt at adding my words to a piece. Sepia Silhouette An old photograph in his hand / Faded beauty in sepia silhouette / On a winters day long ago / Where love and loss first met Her eyes shone with unshed tears / As sepia leaves fell at her feet / She sang of the spring that was to come / As they strolled along the sepia street She was a mystery, ethereal / He knew she would not stay / For angels must move through the world / To sing the day to night In sepia tones, he remembers her / Forever young in his hand / A faded sepia silhouette / For never did he see her again © Alison Pearce 2009 After I wrote this piece, I actually had many questions about it, such as; - is she real? / - is she merely a metaphor for the season, truly nothing but a silhouette? / - is she someone he couldn’t be with for reasons not specified? / - And finally; is the term ‘angel’ applied to her as a reference to the mystery she seems to project to him? As he not only doesn’t appear to understand her, he doesn’t appear to even know her very well; yet, he can’t forget her. I hope you’ve enjoyed the tale, and if you have any thoughts, please share them :) / Regards / Alison
Mixed media collage on recycled layers of old book pages for a “tip-in” page used in altered books. I have used a gold leaf pen to write “dream” on the piece in a couple of places, to outline parts of the statue, to draw a couple of symbols and put my initials SS in the corner. This collage art work has been FEATURED in the “First Things” group. :) A “tip-in page” is a separate work of art that is added or “tipped into” the pages of an altered book. It becomes a part of the altered book by either gluing it into the book, or adhering it some other way such as fanciful clips. Different artists do this in a variety of interesting ways. To find out more about altered books, google the term. I have altered several old books and gave them new life as works of art. They were destined for the trash dump, so I brought them home and altered them. They are an interesting portable portfolio of paintings, collage’ and 3D elements I have added throughout the pages. I added my signature digitally but the collage has not been digitally altered or enhanced in any way. Here’s how it looks printed on canvas: / Here’s how it looks matted & framed in black: / Here’s how the laminated print looks: /

The original work is a tip-in page for an altered book. It’s a mixed media collage on layered recycled book pages. I painted the book pages background with acrylics, then adhered the various torn paper and hand-cut ephemera. Today I altered it digitally, adding even more deep pink hues and contrast to make an interesting print. Wouldn’t this look great in a feminine decor? Girl’s bedroom? I think so. :) Here’s how it looks at its largest print size, matted & framed: Available LARGE on canvas ~ 20×30-inches! /
