  • Alter Ego
    by Alexandra Donnelly

    US$3.36–US$76.76

I took this photo as part of my final project at art school in 2008. Dave was part of a collection of tattooed bodies at the Newport Tattoo Convention 2008, which is where I photographed him. I shot about eighteen people that morning and made a book illustrating their body art and stories behind them. Dave, who is a tattoo artist, had designed the image on his back, and had it tattooed on at the convention by a fellow tattoo artist.

Thinking of fall and the strange, wonderful and lonely delight of it; the re-entrance of fire for warmth and comfort as cold sets in. Thinking of death and life reborn, listening to Loreena McKennitt, this is what happened. Scottish spelling I’m told. Correct me if I’m wrong. /

  • I created this image this afternoon in attempt to combat a bout of the blahs and a lack of inspiration. Because I really liked how my last Forgotten Postcard worked out, I thought I’d try to continue the series. This image was taken back in February, on a grey day, at Kinderdijk in the Netherlands. The windmills of Kinderdijk are one of the best known Dutch tourist sites. They were placed on the list of UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997. Like me, the original image needed a bit of perking up. I hope you like the results.

  • The Real Mr Woolworth
    by edwardfish

    US$4.16–US$95.00

“Do you think he could be involved in some kind of important, top secret work for the government?” Reverand Brown quizzed Mrs Willoughby regarding her mysterious tennant Mr Woolworth. “Well Sir.. that might explain the surreptitious comings and goings, but what of those strange high pitched noises coming from his room and my little Henry going missing all of a sudden?” the woman asked, her voice heavy with concern. ” Oh come come my dear..” replied the vicar, ” Im sure theres a perfectly rational explanation…they are independent creatures after all..and indeed we both know how difficult it can be to settle in sometimes…especially if one is a long way from home…”

  • / “The Wall”...is part of the Abstract, Graffiti, Journal and Altered Pages Collection....it conveys the possibilities within art…art which is not of the mainstream, and at the same time, the possibilities that art can bring to anyone whether we own it or create it…and since we’re still on the subject of layers, then the possibilities that there are in life itself…the ones we come up against everyday and we either ignore them or are too afraid to take hold and fly with them, telling ourselves “it’s impossible”... Watercolour, Acrylic, Oil Pastels, Plaster….on an Altered Journal page… I dwell in Possibility / A fairer House than Prose / More numerous of Windows / Superior…for Doors Of Chambers as the Cedars / Impregnable of Eye / And for an Everlasting Roof / The Gambrels of the Sky Of Visitors…the fairest / For Occupation…This… / The spreading wide my narrow Hands / To gather Paradise..Emily Dickenson Listen to Somos Novios It’s Impossible.... Listen to It’s Impossible It’s impossible, tell the sun to leave the sky, it’s just impossible / It’s impossible, ask a baby not to cry, it’s just impossible / Can I hold you closer to me and not feel you goin’ through me? / Split the second that I never think of you? Oh, how impossible Can the ocean keep from rushin’ to the shore? It’s just impossible / If I had you, could I ever want for more? It’s just impossible / And tomorrow, shouldya ask me for the world, somehow I’d get it / I would sell my very soul and not regret it / For to live without your love—It’s just impossible Not a direct translation of the song above, but just as beautiful…
