  • This is another image taken on the same day as the other Kinderdijk Postcard. I really liked the way yesterday’s turned out, so I decided to work on another one today. I hope you like it!

  • Thinking of fall and the strange, wonderful and lonely delight of it; the re-entrance of fire for warmth and comfort as cold sets in. Thinking of death and life reborn, listening to Loreena McKennitt, this is what happened. Scottish spelling I’m told. Correct me if I’m wrong. /

  • Ok this may gross you out, you’ll probably hate it…. but it is different! June 2009. Sold the usage of this image for the cover of a fictional novel, The Laptop-Cyber Murders by Daniel Parks. The book has been previous published but is being re-edited and partially re-written for publishing later this year. As when it is published I’ll add an image here!

  • Black and white view of a tree in the grounds of Ashton court, just outside of bristol, across the suspension bridge. Living in Bristol we are lucky to have lots of green spaces, the downs, blaise castle and ashton court being three of my favourites. This tree always stands out and is one of my favourites, it was one of the first images i converted to B&W. / Taken with Nikon D40, 18-55dx / Ashton Court is a woodland park that was left by it’s owner to the people of Bristol / This shot has been featured in 3 groups and won a challenge in the angels and spirit guides group /

  • Lawton, OK / May 09 2 photos layered with different opacities Brushes I found on the web here All put together in CS4 by me =) Nikon D80 For Earth Keepers: Lawton, OK is HOT, muggy and buggy. There isn’t much to do around here, but when you look around with the right attitude there is beauty to be found. However…. with the extreme wind here the garbage gets blown all over the cow pastures and hay fields. We need to be better about securing our trash and that include not producing as much too.

  • FEATURED IN THE IMAGEWRITING GROUP I held Time in my hand once… / It gathered the light of the sun / And filled itself with life / It’s rainbow of colours seemed only for me / They warmed my heart / And nourished my soul. / My eyes opened to its simple joys. / I held time tightly / but as gently as I could. / It seemed it would last forever / But each petal soon tired and fell / Carried away by the winds that blow. / (They are always hungry for change) / Yet the center of time has held fast / To a stubborn stalk that endures / The settings of the sun, / And the winds that always blow… / So I hold fast / And can reach easily through time / In both directions / But it is here… / Now… / That I find peace. / I can smile / With the sun on my face / And remember / The birth of my soul. / ~ Karen Tillotson /

  • A shop owner stays warm inside his little hut of usefulness whilst another man stands in the rain. / This was an freezing cold day in Sydney, and the constant shower made it so much more miserable. I was walking around looking for something to photograph when I saw this man in the hut, he looked very cosy so I tried to get the shot to show the contrast between the outside and in. Sydney, NSW, Australia. 3 Exp HDR (+2, 2 -2) / Canon 350D / 18-55mm EF-S / ISO 100 / Tripod Mounted / Photomatix Pro, Photoshop CS4, Lightroom 2

  • The Adelaide Eye, as we called it.. a not so giant ferris wheel, located across the road from our apartment in Glenelg, where we stayed over the weekend. I’ve always wanted to capture a ferris wheel, never had the chance to do it until this moment. Desaturated this one and added a texture from www.deviantart.com to achieve a more vintage look. • Pitt Street looking south towards Park Street. A little bit of info: / Pitt Street is Australia’s second biggest street located in the central business district of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Pitt St is famous for being home to the Pitt St Mall district, which begins at the intersection of Pitt St and Market St. Pitt St Mall is the most expensive street in Australia and 7th most expensive street in the whole world. Australia’s biggest retailer, Westfields will begin construction of a shopping centre on Pitt St Mall, a first of its kind in an Australian CBD. The complex will be a large high rise tower with office use above the shopping levels. The street is one way (Northbound Only) from George Street to Pitt Street Mall and (Southbound Only) from Circular Quay to Pitt Street Mall. It runs through the entire city centre from Circular Quay in the north to Redfern south, although a substantial stretch of it was removed when the Sydney Central railway station was built. It has many different shops, especially along the Pitt Street Mall, as well as various residential and office buildings. • This is the Glenelg pier, Adelaide. I spent at least 10 mins waiting for people coming and going to clear out so I could get a shot of the pier alone. As you can see, this didn’t happen. Turns out, I prefer the activity in this one! Added a texture from www.deviantart.com stock and blanched out the colour form both texture and photo. Added an omni filter for lighting effect and slight adjustment of contrast. • Different? My depiction of the mind of someone in personal struggle with society. The light and the dark, happy and sad, known and unknown. All of this moving with random thought processes, pop culture, gossip, media influence, culture clashes and a lot of the time, white noise to fill whatever silence is left. This is modern society. Confusing, confronting, intimidating and at times down right scary. Which way do we go? Title of this piece I have borrowed from one of my favourite songs: “..can I please have some silence. How about some space..“ / Mindcircus – Way Out West. City Of Melbourne Musuem. Not the one in Carlton, housing dinosaur bones and relics though. This is the nondescript one on Spring Street, in the old Treasury Building. It showcases the history of Melbourne as a city, from colonisation to today. This was taken in the vaults, underground. Which have been turned into an interactive journey through the gold rush days. This particular room had only a tv and light in it, both of modern look. The contrast grabbed my attention straight away. It had a spooky yet familiar effect on me. I didn’t know what to make of it, but I kept looking at it, unsure what to think or feel. Slight crop of original photo. Desaturated all and selectively coloured tv screen. Increased contrasted and brightness to achieve higher levels of mood. • Look here for an incredible piece of writing by blueeyesjus that puts into words everything this image is conveying. Another one of the shots from the day at Port Melbourne beach. This depicts the scene I would picture in my head whenever I was in a place I didn’t want to be. More often than not, school. More specifically, maths class. I wasn’t built for a classroom, being force fed instructions and problematic things that needed solving. It was always about the freedom of creation to me. So I would sit in class and think about anywhere other than where I was. It’s such a vivid memory, despite being 15 years ago. Sold as a Matted Print Featured in JPG Cast Offs / Featured in Australian Landmarks & Icons Crop of original shot, level tweaking to adjust tone. No other processing on this one. • I decided to turn a few of the pics I had published (see here) into pieces for the folio. This is the rear view of Notre Dame, Paris, capital of France. This cathedral resembles a neo gothic castle from this view. I wanted to give this one a historic look, but it has taken on a more fairy tale appearance. I love it when the piece takes over and creates itself! • 4 plans wait in the rain for their next trip. / I took this photo while we were waiting to board a plane for Vanuatu. • The Okavango Delta, Botswana, Africa. This body of water is the largest inland delta in the world, and one of the wildest parts of Southern Africa. Many of the animals inhabiting this region have never had human contact and thus, are as carnal as they come. That’s a comforting thought, when you are spending two nights bush camping among this habitat lol! No toilets, showers or indoor areas, aside from our tents. At night time all was silent, apart from the calls of elephants, hyenas, jackals, and what I thought was a train moving in the distance.. turned out to be a pride of lions roaring after they had killed their dinner. By mid afternoon the temperature reached 48 degrees celcius (118F) on our first day. That kind of heat is impossible to escape, with little to no humidity, the only water we had to drink had been turned hot with the heat. Needless to say, tempers flared and people cried. But hey, it was fun! I took this photo as we were being poled across the delta to the island in its centre. We traveled in mokoros, African style gondolas, carved entirely out of one tree trunk. Once on the island we trekked on foot, saw wild elephants, zebras, giraffes and wart hogs. Thankfully no lions, or other members of the big 5 turned up while were in such a vulnerable position. On our first night, elephants almost stampeded our camp site. The matriarch appeared at one end of the camp, stepped on one of our groups tents and was threatened to charge. All I clearly remember was someone scream. Next thing I knew, we were all pushing each other out of the way to run. But run where? We were on the banks of a delta where crocodiles and hippos lived. In the trees were possibly leopards and beyond our camp we knew there were lions. For a brief moment I thought, death by elephant?? We were however, saved by one of our guides, who hurled a flaming log at the elephant, hitting it square on the head. The matriarch stopped in her tracks, stood still for about a minute (felt like an eternity) and retreated. All of us breathed a sigh of relief, till a girl in our group said “elephants never forget”. Gulp. Added texture from www.deviantart.com free use stock – t_a_g_g_e_r. Layered original shot twice, desaturared one layer. Added texture twice, altered hue slightly on both, increased brightness, decreased contrast. Canon SX100IS MCN: CA586-6FEED-2J2VL

  • Notre Dame, Paris, capital of France. Another shot in my Notre Dame series. The original photo has been in my folio since I started on RedBubble, but was never that popular, so I gave it a make over! Original photo has been layered twice, with two separate textures layered over as well, with colour adjustments, slight tweaking of brightness and lowering of contrast.
