THE SUBJECT: / The ship is the Alma Doepel., “a three masted topsail schooner, Australian built and operated with more than one hundred years of history behind her and with more history to be written.” / The ship was cared for by the members of The Alma Doepel Supporters Club. / She spends most of her time moored wharf side as a tourist attraction but a few time a year she heads off to sea for a short voyage, carrying the members and friends of the club. A great tourist attraction, she must appear in thousands of photographs around the world by now. / 2009: Sadly the owners have sent her to Melbourne and we may never see her in Port again. THE LOCATION: / She was moored at the Lady Nelson Wharf on the south bank of the Hastings River in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. ”...butterflies, those those birds from the soul” / Clarissa Pinkola Estess
“One of the least discussed issues of individuation is that as one shines light into the dark of the psyche as strongly as one can, the shadows, where the light is not, grow even darker. So when we illuminate some part of the psyche, there is a resultant deeper dark to contend with. This dark cannot be let alone.” / From Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Annabella is a home-body and loves her home town which she knows like the back of her hand. She likes to go for walks every day and admire the houses and flowers around town.

“Three Susans”, is a testament to the beauty of autumn’s, Black-eyed Susans. It seems the blooms never really decide whether to be yellow, or orange. But in the end it doesn’t matter… they are gorgeous. Three Susans, is done on watercolor paper. The basic color scheme is painted in with watercolor and markers, the finishing is done with color pencil. I used many shades of purple for the background that lends the piece a startling, yet strangely subtle contrast. It is always the Chase with Spot, the conquest is secondary. But then again they had it coming, first the mouse ventured out for that last forbidden morsel, and of course Tabby just could let the opportunity pass…well then the rest is history as they say. What is not shown, as it was too graphic for the housekeepers it what lies on the flip side of this picture…the mess. Some things are better left unseen! About this painting: / Size 14”x15” / Media: color pencil, metallic marker / Material: 140 lb Bristol / Style: Modern Cubism / Original Status: SOLD
The Kamikaze Kitty. Hot on the trail of what? A dust bunny? a mouse? Who knows, but this much we can tell he is focused and intent on conquering. Able to leap a carpet in a single bound he is set airborne, into a dreamlike sky of vivid blue, and flashing yellow stars. Is that a twinkle in his eye? He must be close to conquest! This piece is done an 140lb smooth bristol with color pencils and metallic markers. 2007 Mixed Media Guitar Sculpture Abstract From Alma Gitano Series 36×48”x4” Alma Gitana was Featured in Live, Love, Dream Group 15 Nov 09 page 2 Stain glass effect. I built the frame of 36×48” out of douglas fir wood, then built the guitar out of pine wood, notching the inside (of guitar) to accept plexiglass cut-out, which is then inlaid into 36×48” frame after frame is skinned with thin masonite and prepared for finish paint and notched out to shape of guitar, simple. Plexiglass then glued into guitar shape, guitar sculpture is then glued into guitar shape of frame. The outside of guitar shape is painted with yellow, yellow ochre, cad red, orange, purple and white mixed acrylic paints.
