  • Taken in a back alley in Brisbane.

  • Dying flowers growing through a crack in old corrugated irom sheets. I am walking and recording the back lanes of North Perth. These are changing rapidly as old buildings are being demolished and new ones replace them. I am also interested in the contrast between the front of homes and the back. Often homes which are well kept and beautiful when viewed from the front are very different from the back. It reminds me of human nature in that we put on masks of beauty and success when in reality we have not got it all together.

  • Back lanes chook shed with old windows set into the wall. Many Greek and Italian migrants made North Perth their home. They use their back gardens for growing fruit and vegies. Many still keep chickens. I am walking and recording the back lanes of North Perth. These are changing rapidly as old buildings are being demolished and new ones replace them.

  • This colorful alleyway, festooned with banners, was full of meandering Westerners checking out a new and different place.

  • Found torn stencils on wall in back lane of North Perth. Text from old poster nearby.

  • IT SEEMED VERY ODD TO SEE A “BINGO” SIGN HERE IN KOTOR.

  • A shot down an alley some place in Italy. There is something so classically European about a multitude of bikes in an alley that I had to grab this shot.

  • Walking the back streets of Venice towards Santa Maria della Salute. Like Paris, a romantic old place :-) Had a go at trying to add some texture to the picture but it only really shows this off when blown up! ENLARGE FOR THE BEST VIEW

  • The dark, depressed alley and a tiny delicate ballerina (model, erica) (comments appreciated)

  • One of the narrow steep alleyways in the small East Coast town of Pittenweem, Fife, Scotland on a very overcast March day. Pittenweem is now the most active of the fishing ports in the East Neuk coast of Fife. Fishing boats jostle for position in its busy harbour and this is a lively vibrant place at any time of day. To add to the atmosphere, visitors can watch the fish market conducted in the sheds on the harbour from 8.00am each morning. This village is the only one in the East Neuk, still with a working harbour. Although there are fewer boats sailing from here now than in days gone by, it is a unique opportunity to see the daily landings and early morning market. Pittenweem fresh fish is bought here and sold by the many local fish vans who travel all over Scotland selling the fish. BEST VIEWED LARGER Related shots can be found at: Fife.
