I know the title doesn’t make much sense, but the photograph was taken by my friend Irina who is a computer programmer; she believes the reason she likes this photo so much has something to do with her being a programmer. I guess, it’s the binary arrangement of trees: 0101010101010101… :) That must be the reason.

Canon 400D / Iceberg season is offically upon us for another year. This was the first Iceberg of the season for me. It was a very foggy and drizzly day, but these bergs were well worth venturing out in the weather. / / From the Northern tip of Labrador down to the eastern coast of Newfoundland, the sea that pounds and caresses these shores is nicknamed Iceberg Alley. Bergs born 10,000 years ago on the Greenland icecap dance along the coast and far out to sea, propelled unpredictably by wind and tide, tumbling, twirling, and breaking into fantastic shapes before melting in the warm waters of the gulf stream. / / An iceberg’s journey down Iceberg Alley begins once it breaks off from the edges of Greenland’s glaciers. Dropping into the ocean, it is gripped by the Labrador Current and carried through the dark ocean along the coasts of Newfoundland and Labrador. In the past, during certain times of the year, the alley has been thick with the largest and most beautiful icebergs found anywhere in the world. They glide majestically along, alone or in groups, obscuring the horizon with their tall, jagged silhouettes. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / More in this series / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography
The mid West Australian coast around Kalbarri is particularly rugged and the constant action of wind, waves, and tides over many millions of years have created several stunning coastal gorges as well as three or four amazing creations. This bridge is one such creation and is only visible at low tide. In this photo the setting sun was bouncing off the rocks behind me and creating a most wonderful setting that I and a couple of other photographers were taking full advantage of. Kalbarri is a popular fishing cum holiday township 150 kms north of Geraldton and getting on for 600 kms north of Perth. As well as it’s coastal gorges it is also famed for some stunning river gorges

Featured on RedBubble Homepage – 7th December 2008 Lost… somewhere in the magical city of Salzburg (Note: This image was originally labelled incorrectly as an alleyway somewhere in Prague, Czech Republic). I have always been fascinated with cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways. And for some peculiar reason, I am always prompted to remember an old Chris Rea song (Windy Town) whenever I think of cobblestones. Oh, the joy and wonder of musical memory triggers :-) Salzburg, Austria, 2006. A laneway in the backstreets of Valencia, Spain. This was taken in June on a warm summer’s night. Everything was perfectly still and quiet down the lane. The holy city of Safed, perched on a mountain top in the upper Galilee, conjures many images to all lovers of the city. The romantic flavor of narrow cobblestone lanes and ancient synagogues fills one’s lungs with a new spirit. The rusty old houses with there domed roofs clearly identifies the city with the mysterious past of the Holy Land. The history of Safed, in real terms, dates back only five hundred years to the beginning of the 16th century. As if out of nowhere, Jews from near and far settled there – as if answering a divine call – and built the largest Jewish settlement in Palestine. Furthermore, great scholars and mystics opened yeshivos in Safed, being an added incentive to other young men of wisdom to settle there. In one sense, the last half of the 16th century was the pinnacle of Torah grandeur which the city experienced. The author of the Shulchan Aruch (Jewish Code of Laws), Rabbi Joseph Karo, sat at the head of the rabbinical court while compiling his compendium of Jewish Law. At the same time, another saintly man by the name of Rabbi Isaac Luria revealed the mystical side of the Torah, called Kabalah. Together these men and their disciples opened new pathways to the Torah which embedded an invisible holiness in the very rocks of the city. Today everyone who strolls through the city is caught off guard by the hidden spirit of Safed which vibrates full of life after so many generations. Not only newcomers are surprised, but even weathered old comers as well. Homage to Safed. Last one from today’s visit to Currumbin Alley. Quite lucky today, while lining up a shot similar to this I was swamped by a wave hitting the rocks behind me. Lucky that I had taken my cut-off rain-coat sleeve with me today after hearing about Mel Brackstone’s experience. If not for this reminder, my camera would have been water-logged. It’s a pain to use as you can’t really see your dials, wireless remote still works though – might make a couple of adjustments before the Summer storms come rolling in.
Looking across the Alley towards the distant headland of Burleigh Heads at sunset. I was unsure of the crop so I found a portrait one to play with.
Found up a back alley in Bath this little Dickensian (thanks to Anniemaree) scene was just waiting for me to capture it. Something from my old account, no need to comment a second time! Featured in ‘No more color’
