Taken in a back alley of Fitzroy – looking towards the back of the shops that face Brunswick street. This rusty old shed on the right recently sold for approx $600k
Here’s my famous red vinyl chair and red phone! These have been used in quite a few photo shoots now – although, this is the first photo where the two items get in the limelight. This laneway is located near Hosier Lane in Melbourne, adorned with graffiti and stencil art. Getting the phone to the laneway from the carpark at Fed Square was easy. Getting the chair there wasn’t!
Part of a Retro Pin-Up series at Hosier Lane, Melbourne. This image is also showcased in the 2009 calendar (click image to view the calendar) /

Melbourne Doors – These two doors are actually separate but lie within the same alley within the CBD. I combined the two to include as much graffiti encroachment as possible! Hope you guys like it!

A night shot of an alley in Vittoriosa, Malta. This town was the residence for the Knights of Malta before they built Valletta. Vittoriosa is one of my favorite shooting grounds. One day I decided to give it a try at night. I liked this alley the minute I saw it. Problem was that all street lighting was yellow. Still I went ahead, set up my tripod and took a few shots. Back on my computer, I didn’t like the yellowish cast. So I desaturated and painted back the yellow on that one street lamp at the bottom of the alley. Nikon D70 / Nikkor 18-70 f/3.5-4.5G
- A rare bit of graffiti that actually makes a statement, wow! / Recently fixed up the resolution so it is now available as anything from canvases to cards.
Mdina, the old Capital City of Malta. Dubbed the Silent City. Time is nearly 0550 hours on a Summer Sunday morning. The Sun has not yet reached all of the Alleys and side streets. No sound is heard except the occasional rustling of the leaves in the trees behind me. Not a person in sight. All Alleys seem deserted except for a couple of stray cats still asleep in doorways, huddled close together for safety and comfort. Suddenly the sounds of a closing front door and light footsteps reveal the presence of someone in the Alley to my right. Who could this be? Cautiously I gathered enough courage to look down the Alley…....

Click here for a short Wikipedia entry on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_Tan_Alley / http://vancouverisland.kulshan.com/British_Columbia/Vancouver_Island/Capital_Area/Victoria/Attractions/Fan_Tan_Alley.htm And as for the ermine, or polecat – I took her picture out by an abandoned house in the middle of a wheat field! I’ll post a real picture of her soon. :D
...about an hour north of New Orleans you start hitting these amazing mansions and plantations, this is the view looking away from the mansion – I found the dual minimal landscape framed by these amazing oaks a cool sight and the tourists played the perfect role.
thanks Van for your confidence in me / hope you’ll like it!! / his images: / / / the background is done in google sketch up / the rest in PS CS
Taken in one of Melbourne’s alleyways. I was attracted to the lovely red light inside contrasting with the grunge in the outside.
First ever go at selective colour ! /
An alley in the oldest and once most industrious part of Valletta. A deserted block of houses and stores dating back to the 17th Century. Still lived in some 50 years ago they now await their turn to naturally crumble down and make space for more modern apartments. 4 copies of a single hand held shot taken with Olympus E-330, processed at 1/3 EV stops merged together with the original in Photomatix Pro3
