I was playing around with a sunset photo I had taken, when I got the idea for a planet similar to Earth, populated with humanoid type creatures who find something to grumble about regardless of the situation. Their conversation might go something like: I can’t believe it Zhrikplatth, that’s the third time this Dasnuba that the skyhop has been late. Keep your veins in, Krryp, at least we can enjoy another methane sunset while we wait.
Bathed in fire, baptised in horror, / a new breed of death is born of the old, / A Mother resigned to her savage fate, / An alien child is death incarnate. (See also with text version) The adventurous reader may be aware of the creature featured in the ‘Alien’ series of films. Few, however, are aware of the real-life personae of this theatrical invention. But here now, for the first time on this planet, I present the history and lineage of the real-life creature that is called “Morboae”. Morboae (pl) are natives of the planet Narcisyum in the as-yet undiscovered galaxy of Gorton. Undiscovered, I should add, by earth – but well known and well avoided by other civilized worlds. Morboae are the correct name for the creature that is birthed in this image. In presenting the history of the Morboae, it is essential to give – albeit sparingly – some account of it’s parentage – the Lithegoths. This is especially so since the birth of the species Morboae marked the end of the species Lithegoths. Evolution is a cruel and heartless director of fortunes. The Lithegoths were a relatively docile species of almost dinosaur-like physique. The Lithegoths bore a startling resemblance (to you humans) to the grotesque offspring of a Coelophysis and a duck. Though carnivorous, they were not voracious in their pursuit and killing of other creatures. They hunted and ate for survival, and when not hungry were quite approachable by almost any other creature. In contrary to both Coelophysis and ducks, however, they bore live young, and reared them with a love and tenderness almost unheard of anywhere in the known galaxy. It is sad, therefore, due to some unforseen and certainly uncalled for stroke of evolution, that these relatively peaceful creatures would suddenly, and in as little as the equivalent of 2 earth years, give birth to – and be devoured by – their own offspring – the Morboae. As Narcisyum was unsettled (though occasionally visited by biological observation teams) there is no known cause of the sudden mutation of the young Lithegoths. All that is known is that instead of the Lithegoth young being born through the female birth canal, suddenly – and violently – the Morboae burst straight from the stomach and – with a ferocity which is almost beyond even today’s jaded belief – they immediately lauched themselves into their parents (Lithegoths) faces and devoured them. So was born the race that was to be known as the Morboae – the devourers. Within 2 earth years, there were no Lithegoths alive and the Morboae roamed the planet. The Morboae reproduction cycle was completely different to their Lithegoth parentage. They utilized an three-stage reproduction cycle – begining with egg-like incubators (called Truks). These hatched into a mobility-oriented creature (the Placusii) which then used live animal incubation to produce the final stage of Morboae life form. Contrary to popular belief they retained at least the attributes of male and female, with both being sexually active. Eggs, therefore, could be found anywhere and everywhere. Unlike the Lithegoth, the final-cycle Morboae are voracious in their hunting and killing. Any creature they manage to catch is torn to pieces in a matter of seconds (including the Maxidontal Arionis – the toughest of the Hamilbest octoped pack beasts). The hosting creature in the third reproductive phase could be virtually anything above 23 drilums (about 25 kilograms). As a consequence, in less than 5 years the entire animal population was dead other than Morboae. This is where the story should end. A dead planet, a dead-end in evolution. This is where story should end. But it does not. Because Morboae in the egg-phase can live for many millions of earth years. And planets are no so isolated as human beings seem to think. Morboae could have escaped Narcisyum by many means – the unlucky botanist, the occasional tourist and so forth. But in reality, they escaped that planet and have now taken over most of Gorton (the galaxy) because of greed. Greed, you see, is not purely a human trait. A group of interstellar profiteers discovered that the Morboae made exceptionally fine eating. It was hailed as the gourmet discovery of the era. Morboae eggs were shipped far and wide across the galaxy and consumed in all of the best houses and star liners that could afford the prices. As it is written in the Contrata Do Riortae – “Life shall find a way”. (tr Treos) The Morboae reproductive cycle infected many transports, sending many cargo transfer ships into uncontrolled crashes on to populated, and barren planets. And so, even now, the Morboae lives on. The dead end of evolution spews forth into the universe until everything is consumed. This is the history and lineage of the Morboae as told by the History Records of the United Biological Defence Corporation.
“Faster Mnlik, they are gaining on us!” “Keep your party hat on dear, they have forgotten to raise the landing gear on their “Beatle”.” Mnlik allowed himself a self-satisfied smile, while closing the right wing pod slightly to deflect them away from the cliffs. The Hihangers would not be happy if their city rest time was disturbed in any way. He need to maximise the downdraft and use the sweeping air currents through the gorge, to increase his advantage before Bloddk, realised his mistake and raised the legs. Bloddk would not win this year, Mnlik decided, his jovial headgear from the festivities belying his determination. Ever since the early transmissions from Earth all those millennia ago and the “Fab Four” had been popularised into local culture, the planet had changed. A change for the better he thought. In the old days, it was all work and no play. Public and even private displays of emotion were frowned upon. Not anymore, he grinned. The images, filtered through the space-time warp, were grainy, but enough data had arrived to let them know that they were not alone. The priests were wrong, there was life elsewhere after all. From what they could gather, they were humanoid like themselves and maybe “The one who had arrived” to tell them about immortality was also wrong… laughing and finding things funny was probably ok, and just maybe, winning a Beatle race would not consign your soul to hlekka for eternity. Their minds were opening, it felt good. “What are you smiling at, Mnlik?” questioned Frontalia, twisting her head to keep their pursuers in sight. “You know if you lose concentration in this gorge, we won’t make it ahead of them and there are rumours that the river snappers are back to their old tricks, so don’t get too close to the acid. “Relax darling, I was just thinking about how we carved their faces over the vector shields on our craft. They honour life forms, light years away, whom we will never meet. What matters though, is that the carvings remind us not to go back to the old ways.” They flew on in silence, both deep in thought, the race almost forgotten. In the background a song from Earth soothed their minds- ”...on and on, across the universe…”
Chameleo ripped himself from the cliff face, spun and fired all in one movement. They had found him, despite his best efforts to blend into the sheer rock precipice. It would be all action now. Ten thousand years he had remained undetected, while probing the depths of the cosmos using hyper meditative travel. His body had remained in suspended animation, while his mind floated freely, gathering information. He was just about ready… then this. What a time to get an itchy nose. That was all they needed…
This artwork was featured on the front page of Imagekind This artwork was featured by RB groups: / Art in Math / Avante-Garde / Digital Abstracts & Patterns / Experimental / Shapes & Patterns / Available with other artwork at MY GALLERY This surreal artwork is a bit Daliesque in the sense of its unexpected shapes, and the depth of the landscape. The colors, the look of the ‘false’ sky, and the alien appearance of the landscape all lend an air of mystery and wonder to this artwork. Inspection reveals that the sky has folds in it, and is actually part of the rest of the scene. The entire artwork is just one large convoluted 3D object. The organic curves, gently flowing and turning in an unexpected composition, the muted orange and rust colors of the landscape, and the blues and yellows of the ‘enclosed’ sky, present themselves in an intriguing and unique interplay of light and color. There is some accidental symbolism in this art which is often overlooked. The result is an appealing, restful, and mysterious landscape that could only be found in the mind of its artist creator. Please join me and enjoy this view of my mental meanderings. Punching softly through the puffy clouds, the Whisper Craft roared into life at full power. They knew this last leg would be tricky and had hoped to maintain their surprise as long as possible, in order to catch to inhabitants at Face Mountain city, unaware. Now in the open, they had to risk all in a high speed swoop, before the defenders could respond. They had reckoned without Stumpy though. Stumpy, a survivor of a previous sneak attack, had sworn that they would not catch his city sleeping a second time. He had roamed the skies daily, since war had started. Now, it seemed, his endless hours in high altitude patrols, had been rewarded. His stump itched, but it didn’t worry him this time. He smiled as he flicked the switch on his photon disruptor and prepared to dive…

A continuation of the ‘car park’ theme. This one was inspired by Enrico Bettesworth’s ‘Underworld’ and Andrew Brown’s ‘Underground’. My challenge was to interpret this site differently from those two artists. I hope I have been partially successful in achieving this.
I got inspired for the idea of this work after reading an article about the possible colors of alien worlds in a magazine called Scientific American. This is a female character from another world dreaming about what possible creatures could exist on other worlds. She is manifesting imagery of different creatures with her powers and wondering if they really exist somewhere in the universe. I used Painter and Photoshop for this work, no references were used.
Alien winged predators / Taken some time ago, through the porthole of an infinity drive dimension warping starship, on a terrestrial type inner planet orbiting an orange dwarf star 2061 light years from earth, it was twice the mass of our planet and several times the gravity, with a large and close by moon causing huge tidal irruptions in its thin and pliable crust, these tidal movement providing more heat that the rather feeble star that it orbited could, enabling it to maintain a livable temperature, though this had the effect of making the constantly moving surface of the planet a rather hazardous place for life, note the tortured and desolate landscape below ! “luckily“, because of the huge gravity it had a thick atmosphere to protect the life zone from the almost constantly falling meteors, seen here streaking through the upper stratosphere, and to be able to support a whole airborne ecology, in effect what we, here, on lonely little planet earth, would perceive as flying dinosaurs. Complete with all their terrible tooth and claw weaponry, and enormous appetite driving them on to horrible acts of winged violence and carnivorous butchery. Despite the ultra high technology I had under my personal command, I was still lucky to escape this miserable, dim and unhappy world, ….though still emotionally tortured, ….. physically unscathed. Hmmmn……. The dog is looking funny at me ??
The cliff face shimmered slightly as the craft slipped softly into the blue. They hugged the sheer wall until they were well clear, then dipped into the powdered soft whiteness beneath. It had been a while since their last meeting. Hopefully this one would go better… I have used this digital painting as the cover for my / 2009 Sci Fi Calendar /

As I made my ( transitional ) drive from my future back to my past today, I listened to the Alien sounds of the album Oxygene. / From the master himself, Jean Michel Jarre. It is a sound for Earthly ears, with a message from the cosmos, to me its about the search for a new home on another world by a race that as destroyed the one they were given. The search is long and time passes slowly, the new worlds must have the thing we as a species need “Oxygene” / So their search across space may go on for eternity, for they say ” you can never go home again”. / And even when you find that other world, it still is not “home”. So I suppose MY message is…........... ’ Think about what we as a race are doing to our home world, do we really want to have to travel the stars for all eternity, searching for something we already have?................think! I wanted to create an image of what their home world was like before its destruction. So I created this one and called it “Oxygene”

As we look at the scene before us, we see many lights in the sky. / And since man first walked upon this Earth, he as always wondered what they were, those lights in the night sky. / Has he became more aware through technological advances, he sort of understood what they could be. / And even to this day he still wonders, what hides in the great blue yonder. Art over the centuries as boldly gone where no art as gone before! Art as evolved with leaps and bounds, it as crossed a great many mediums. And it had to happen, here we have the planet Epsilon-Epsilon. The planet was purchased by one individual for the sole purpose of creating a work of art. The planet as thousands of cities and towns, all built as different architectual art forms, they are not populated, in fact there are no beings that live on the whole planet. / There is a reception center on the largest moon, the “tours” can take anywhere from 1 to 10 years to complete. The artist know as *Alienvisitor plans to purchase the entire solar system and all 13 of its planets, so one day the system itself will become the art form. This is but a small sample of said art…...the city of Flight, the architecture here is based on but not exact of his *Cities in Flight Series. Featured in Images & Ideas Group 25/07/09
This was originally one of Melbourne’s newer buildings, on Bourke Street. I wasn’t in any way happy with the lighting on the day, so I put the powers of post processing to work. Blacking out of background, colour tweaking and lighting adjustment gave me this space station feel. I imagine this to be an undiscovered Alien dock, found outside the Milky Way (extragalactic). I owe my inspiration for this piece to hologram, who has a folio of incredible galactic like pieces. This was taken with my old Canon SX100IS, so the quality isn’t as good as some of my recent shots, but I’m still happy with the result :) Featured in Canon DSLR Top 10 in Something Used Something Borrowed Challenge MCN: C9CA0-E2B18-BF707
