I was playing around with a sunset photo I had taken, when I got the idea for a planet similar to Earth, populated with humanoid type creatures who find something to grumble about regardless of the situation. Their conversation might go something like: I can’t believe it Zhrikplatth, that’s the third time this Dasnuba that the skyhop has been late. Keep your veins in, Krryp, at least we can enjoy another methane sunset while we wait.
Swisher did not agree with the council and ignoring their findings, decided to free the Crozog and her cub. After all, what harm could there really be. Old Whisper face in the council probably made up most of what he had heard anyway… I was playing with pencil concept sketches of vistas monsters and high speed movement, when this image took shape. I loved “Flip McCoy the Rocket boy”, as a child and Swisher was inspired by my early memories of this boy with a rocket belt.
Nakalele Blowhole truly a miracle of nature. A shelf of lava rock on the north shore of Maui eroded by the punishing sea until the waves created a vent that spews like a geyser off and on and when the llight of late afternoon hits the spray the miracle of rainbow color becomes apparent.
I re-discovered this one way in the back of my portfolio! I think it deserves another moment in the sun. When it was uploaded to RB, Groups did not yet exist! My first “official” render with Vue 6 Esprit. Your standard alien landscape – easy to do because realism is not an issue :-) This 1680×1050px image took four and a half hours to render – this is due to the “depth of field” effect. Without it, it takes 14 minutes.
This artwork was featured on the front page of Imagekind This artwork was featured by RB groups: / Art in Math / Avante-Garde / Digital Abstracts & Patterns / Experimental / Shapes & Patterns / Available with other artwork at MY GALLERY This surreal artwork is a bit Daliesque in the sense of its unexpected shapes, and the depth of the landscape. The colors, the look of the ‘false’ sky, and the alien appearance of the landscape all lend an air of mystery and wonder to this artwork. Inspection reveals that the sky has folds in it, and is actually part of the rest of the scene. The entire artwork is just one large convoluted 3D object. The organic curves, gently flowing and turning in an unexpected composition, the muted orange and rust colors of the landscape, and the blues and yellows of the ‘enclosed’ sky, present themselves in an intriguing and unique interplay of light and color. There is some accidental symbolism in this art which is often overlooked. The result is an appealing, restful, and mysterious landscape that could only be found in the mind of its artist creator. Please join me and enjoy this view of my mental meanderings. I just found this very old photo of Peggy’s Cove, this was taken on Mariners World about 200 years ago. / Because of the violent storms generated by Nova Moon,it requires two lighthouses. / They do say except for the backdrop of the Scotia Mountains and the Nova Moon, this could be the original Earthly scene. I used Lucindawinds images “Tranquility” and “The Reason for Lighthouses”. Alienvisitor’s Imagi – Nation .......................................................................................................... Here’s a How I did it.! I went to Lucindawinds page and viewed her art,the two I picked out were…............. “Tranquility” and “The Reason for Lighthouses”. I then contacted her,got permission to use them and had her email high res. images. / She also gave me ownership of said images,to use in any creations. In this I used two photos, a render, 2 models creations, a number of layers and filters. / Software used Photoshop,Infinity-D,Artmatic Voyager. In Photoshop… I put both photos on transparent layers,In Tranquility I erased the most of the sky,in Lighthouses I removed everything but the rocks. I dragged the rock layer onto the Tranquility image and positioned it in the lower quadrant. / Then I took a good look and saw in my minds eye what I needed for a backdrop and also the colors. Leaving the image on the right side of the screen,I opened my 3D rendering program Artmatic Voyager ( this is a Mac only program) / I then spent about 4 hours building and rendering an Alien Background. I always render at the highest possible resolution and saving as a PICT file (on my machine that can take up to 6-7 hours, this one took 2 hours.) Closing the Artmatic program and reopening the render in Photoshop,I then dragged it onto the transparent layer. Now I needed lighthouses and I didn’t want to use the one in Lu’s image. / Needed something a bit more alien. So I opened Infinity-D,and built myself 2 lighthouses, saving as psd transparent files. Back in Photoshop I dragged and positioned both lighthouse layers onto the Tranquility photo. Then feathered and cloned all the edges of all layers until they were blended to my satisfaction. I then opened my filters and chose the “Old Photo Color” filter, tweeked, painted, erased the image then set the filter. The filters I use are nik Color Efex Pro. It still needed something…FOG.. Opened a “Graduated Fog” filter adding just a little fog with the paint brush on the horizon, this also goes aways to hiding any harsh edges in that area. Almost done… Added a bit of brilliance to the image. Thats it and well worth the effort…another fine alien creation. “May you always create well and prosper” Alienvisitor’s Imagi – Nation* David (AV)

twas just another trip to planet NB32, / hopin’ to see slimy loha moo, / she’s lives beneath these smokey mists / a pretty creature she is with fists, / covered with scales and golden threads / wrapped all over her body and two heads… / well, she’s probably taking a nap, / on her ethereal mother’s lap… so i guess for now, / she can wait for my praise and wow, / while i’ll go about to enjoy NB32’s view, / from sundown till the new day breaks anew…. this picture shows the different stages / in making this piece from the / combination of my photographs / of saudi arabia’s mountain side, / to the processes employed / such as: / dodges and burns, / transparencies and filters / to fuse all these pix together, / the water or misty effects are / digitally painted using Corel X4 / tints, gammas, and color corrections.. / and finishing touches in PS… and after several hours, / this is the final product…!!! / enjoy!!

On the world of Highland Home,we view the moons “Coigach and Ullapool” / The view is wonderful as evening falls on this scene named for its namesake / “Wester Ross” on the home world of Earth. / Highland Home was colonized by settlers from the Ullapool area, which lies in the Northern Hemisphere of Earth. And like its namesake its a great place for hikers and painters. A collaboration with *James Davison and myself. / I used Jimmy’s painting “Wester Ross”*
I like to take a quite walk of an evening down the track that goes to the old mining town in the foothills of the Murphy Mountains. / And here in the northern hemisphere of Emerald the view of her twin moons is always spectacular. This is a collaboration between Maria Murphy and myself. I used Maria’s image “A walk”
Blue Man is a “visitor” starting out on a vacation trip in his nifty VW Van; decisions, decisions…
Somehow I just can’t get away from sunrise/sunsets, I think its a lot to do with the colors. / I sometimes amaze myself when playing with light & shadow,I wasn’t really going for this effect, but all of a sudden, it was there. This reminded me very much of the scenery along China’s Li river, yet the sun seems to say Japan, so I guess this is an oriental blend.
I remember when I was a small child my first view of Mount Nankeira, with a backdrop of stars. / I stood holding Nanna’s hand, feeling the the pull of the great unknown, and knowing that someday I would be exploring those same Nebulas and Stars. / Standing here at the edge of the Sundering Sea, the mountain was awesome, but more awesome was my future beyond. This is a collaboration between Julie Langford and I . I used Julies image Nothing is Too Big with a Hand to Hold
When nearing the pirate occupied territory of Klannz, all the patrols try to stay in stealth mode. / Here we see a patrol with two ships just going to cloak.
Blue Man has discovered the Lost Valley of the Laughing Gods, who have visited this place very long ago and spread their message of peace, good humor, and the journey of the soul far beyond a single lifetime, and they instilled in the locals the duty to maintain these teachings and keep the temple safe…
This is my first Music Inspired Art, this was a lot more difficult than you might think for so uncomplicated a scene. Please listen to this song, Let Joy and Innocence Prevail I can hardly bear to hear it ever since 9/11… Comments are of course welcome. “Let Joy and Innocence Prevail” I tell you of a girl, her husband was a soldier, / Gone to war in some strange country far away; / No word had come to her, but the rumors of great battles fought, / And dying in their thousands, and the world full of fear; As the day would turn to evening, she would light a pure white candle, / And place it in a window bright from where it could be seen, / As she placed it in the window softly without thinking, / She said, “Let this burning candle be a beacon” Let joy and innocence prevail, / Let joy and innocence prevail, / Believe that love will never fail, / Let joy and innocence prevail! And one night, asleep, / She dreamed she saw her husband fall / In a great white cavalry charge, And waking in tears, / She saw the candle burning in the window / She still had hope; And through the window / A man in the distance, / But as he came closer, / She saw he was a stranger; The stranger said, “I bring a message from a general, / A captain has been wounded, his life hangs by a thread; / He calls out your name, and he wishes you to come to him, / But the journey is a hard road, and you may be afraid” And she laughed and said, “No road could be too hard, for I am fearless, / A captain and a husband, I have gained this bright new day” / And she said with all her heart, she would fly to be beside him. / And her love would heal his wounds, restore him to her; Let joy and innocence prevail, / Let joy and innocence prevail, / Believe that love will never fail, / Let joy and innocence prevail! Let joy and innocence prevail, / Let joy and innocence prevail, / Believe that love will never fail, / Let joy and innocence prevail!

A collaboration with Jenland and her fractal Amethyst Goddess, this one is so dramatic, it’s an architectural statement I can’t stop studying, in fact you tell me – is it a temple or is it a ship? Jen’s artwork here: Converts to this large continent, which I explored for hours, setting up 8 shots: ...which became 5 renderings, and you’re seeing the best 3 images. Whatcha think, Jen?!

Art over the centuries as boldly gone where no art as gone before! Art as evolved with leaps and bounds, it as crossed a great many mediums. And it had to happen, here we have the planet Epsilon-Epsilon. The planet was purchased by one individual for the sole purpose of creating a work of art. The planet as thousands of cities and towns, all built as different architectual art forms, they are not populated, in fact there are no beings that live on the whole planet. / There is a reception center on the largest moon, the “tours” can take anywhere from 1 to 10 years to complete. The artist know as *Alienvisitor plans to purchase the entire solar system and all 13 of its planets, so one day the system itself will become the art form. This is but a small sample of said art…...the city of Flight, the architecture here is based on but not exact of his *Cities in Flight Series. Featured in Images & Ideas Group 25/07/09
We now know it is good fortune to run across a Mook, the largest inhabitant of this planet, about the size of a small villiage, and they’re fascinated with all humans much like Earth’s whales and dolphins are. / The first encounter with a Mook was by a crew member who’d fallen into a very deep crevasse, injured, and the Mook had gently pulled him to safety, then proceeded to softly “pat” our survivor on the head and shoulders while sending out a low frequency sonar-type signal. Later our crew member described “fear was quickly replaced by a feeling of well being and comfort, and being petted by such a giant creature resembled being tapped lightly with a balloon animal”. / Since then we have learned Mooks munch on the lichens, float in the sunlight doing a kind of photosynthesis, and they are always attracted to human activities. Also, if you give one a marshmallow, it’ll follow you around like a puppy. We like Mooks, they like us. Bunny’s lovely original fractal Elegance of Light: and the converted terrain object:
Ross Bay, Loch Lien, Ireland I saw the challenge in the Woman Photographer, and could not resist putting this one in. This was an HDR shot (7exposures (+/-3EV). There has been no photoshop manipulation, this is just as it was. The clouds looked just like like alien spaceships. P.O.M. = Pyramids on Mars I’ve always been intrigued by the photos of what appears to be “pyramids” on the surface of Mars, and when I did this piece that’s the first thing that came into my thoughts. I used what appears to be some kind of boiler furnace on a property where an old house burnt down and now there is just part of an old foundation and fireplace and this strange pink tower. Someone on the trail told me that this tower was once painted blue..I combined a few different layers, one layer being a photo taken during the most recent batch of forest fires that happened in Ashland, Oregon this past Summer 2009. It has been pointed out that this piece looks strikingly similar to mine tailings that litter the Olympic Opal Field on the outskirts of the South Australian mining town of Coober Pedy.
