The boatshed, situated in Matilda Bay, is thought to have been originally constructed in the early 1930s. Panoramic view.

Alfred Nichols Gardens, Dandenongs, Victoria
These steps were taken in the Alfred Nicholas Gardens, the Dandenongs, Victoria, Australia. Where do they lead to? Some PS work done to enhance the contrast and colours. This was taken with a Canon DLSR EOS 350D camera. The many linking paths through this garden take you beneath a canopy of the stunning mountain ash trees of the Dandenong Ranges. The garden was part of the historic Burnham Beeches Estate, home of Alfred Nicholas, developer of the Aspro formula. So happy that I sold a small framed print with mocha frame to my sister, Nadia, today. This was bought on redbubble using vouchers that she gave to her sister-in-law, Marta, for her birthday. Thankyou very much Nadia and Marta.
James Stewart in Alfred Hitchcocks famous dream sequence in Vertigo.
The king of suspense.
May all love, / His love, unseen but felt, o’ershadow Thee, / The love of all Thy sons encompass Thee, / The love of all Thy daughters cherish Thee, / The love of all Thy people comfort Thee, / Till God’s love set Thee at his side again! Words by Alfred, Lord Tennyson Music:Here / Acrylics, pigment and gold foil / 100cm x 42 cm on paper
Another shot from the Natural History Museum, London. Believe it or not, this isn’t HDR and was only shot at f4, so I’m surprised at how well it came out…! Canon 400D, f4, 1/25, ISO800, 10mm. In 1864 a competition was held to design the new museum, and the winning entry was submitted by Captain Francis Fowke who died shortly afterwards. The scheme was taken over by Alfred Waterhouse who substantially revised the agreed plans, and designed the façades in his own idiosyncratic Romanesque style. The Museum’s Central Hall forms a fantastic backdrop to some of the highlights of the Museum’s collection including a Diplodocus skeleton and a 1,300-year-old giant sequoia. Souls that have toil’d and wrought, and thought with me- / That ever with a frolic welcome took / The thunder and the sunshine, and opposed / Free hearts, free foreheads-you and I are old; / Old age hath yet his honour and his toil; / Death closes all; but something ere the end, / Some work of noble note, may yet be done, / Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods. / The lights begin to twinkle from the rocks: / The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep / Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends, / ‘Tis not too late to seek a newer world…....... Words by Lord Alfred Tennyson Music – Dreamcatcher Painting using acrylic, inks, pigment and graphite.
Taken at the Alfred Nicholas Gardens in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria. I found this gorgeous stone stairway leading up to a large mansion, unfortunately there was a fence blocking the top of the path. But the sea of yellow leaves and the reds and yellows in the trees against the bright blue sky were too irresistible. Shot with a Nikon D200, 12-24mm lens @ 15mm, F/16, ISO 100, tripod, cable release. 8 shot HDR, merged/mapped in Photomatix, levels/etc in Photoshop. Also taken during this outing were ‘The Boathouse’ and ‘One Tree Island’.

Kookaburra at Melbourne Zoo The “Laughing Kookaburra” is known by its name for its “laugh” which it uses to greet its mate after periods of absences. It can be heard at any time of day but most frequently shortly after dawn and especially when the colour drains from the forest after sunset. One bird starts with a low, hiccupping chuckle, then throws its head back in raucous laughter: often several others join in. If a rival tribe is within earshot and replies, the whole family soon gathers to fill the bush with ringing laughter. Hearing kookaburras in full voice is one of the more extraordinary experiences of the Australian bush, something even locals cannot ignore; some visitors, unless forewarned, may find their call startling. / ~ Wikipedia
