www.glennalderson.com The colour is named after the orange fruit, introduced to Europe via the Sanskrit word nāranja. Before this was introduced to the English-speaking world, the colour was referred to (in Old English) as geoluhread, which translates into Modern English as yellow-red. The first recorded use of orange as a colour name in English was in 1512, In the court of King Henry VIII. Motivated by fellow RedBubblers I headed down south for some South Australian sunset shots. Found a perfect spot along Aldinga Beach and snapped away. This was the last one for the night and talk about “save the best for last”.

this was taken out at Aldinga Airfield looking over to the hills. I could not believe how beautiful the scenery was, and wonder why I had never gone out that way before. Taken with my new wide angle lens clipped onto the front of my 14-42mm.
I recommend this trick for anyone wanting to be run over – gasp at the scenary, pull off a busy narrow-sided road and stand in the middle taking a photo, preferably with your back turned to a hill! Yes, we’ve all done it? This is a familiar view for me, looking south down into the Aldinga – Aldinga Beach hub with the pub on the corner on the charmingly named Old Coach Rd.

This is a bit of cheatsville – 2 photos taken same day, same place, combined for interest. We do have an aerodrome in these parts which offers joyrides and lessons. I still remember my best friend in high school winning one of the joyrides as 3rd prize in our school ‘Spectacular Night’ lottery. Her first words were, “Why couldn’t I have won the ice-cream cake instead?”

Inspired by the waves and the ocean infront of me….I was left absolutely breathless when the ripples in the sand lit up before me in so many different colours. I have never seen anything quite like it.

I picked the wrong leatherjacket to mess with! This little guy was acting very territorial and came right up into our faces, or maybe it was just inquisitive. Either way, it put on quite a show of bravado for us. Taken on a dive at The Drop Off at Aldinga, South Australia
