Of the two albino squirrels that I shot this morning, one was still a little sleepy. I was trying to get a clear shot of his entire head, but I couldn’t get the angle needed. Still, that twig was gripped in the squirrel’s hind foot, so I guess it was a good trade-off. It was also a rare treat to catch this little critter sleeping. The more that I look at this picture, the more that I love it. I can’t look at it now without smiling. I also now tend to reflect upon the helplessness of nature as man continues to invade their environment. How many animals will lose their homes to man’s quest for more profit today, tomorrow, the years ahead?
This is Rubicon, an albino ferret, on an escapade in the snow.
The first in a new series of color oriented pieces involving mermaids. The series was inspired by a commission for a ‘pink mermaid’, which turned out very monochromatic. I thought it would be fun to expand on that idea so here we are.

I saw this amazing albino Sqirrel, could not believe it. Just so amazing, look at the pink eyes. I first thought it is a cross between a rat and a sqirrel. / / / /
Perhaps the only one in the world (in captivity anyway), this amazing lizard seems to do quite well outside in his enclosure, hopes are to breed him with several girls this season and I wish the owner luck! Incredible specimen. 1998 views

A shot of my rabbit, Hazel. I tried to get down low to give a rabbits view perspective and to give the shallow depth of field with the grass in the foreground. Canon 400D / ISO 200 / 1/50th / F5.6 / Tamron 55 – 200mm @ 200mm / No Flash / Handheld with beanbag
Albino Northern Territory Carpet Python (Morelia spilota variegata) or Darwin Carpet Python are native to Australia and New Guinea. The unusual appearance of this albino snake is caused by genetic faults in the metabolic system that produces melanin. This individual is an oculocutaneous albino, which means that it contains no melanin in the eyes or skin. / / ©2008 Shannon Plummer. Originally I thought this was an albino peacock…But have done some research and come up with this – “The White Peacock is frequently mistaken for an albino, but it is a colour variety of Indian Blue Peacock.” It was a very magestic bird and beautiful to see him fan his tail feathers.
