  • 2007 AirPower over Hampton Roads, Langley AFB. B-17 flyby, plane slightly banked for a perfect picture opportunity. You can almost make out the oil leaking over the engine cowl and wing (especially on port engine number 2). This is the Memphis Belle replica, the real Memphis Belle is currently undergoing restoration at the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH. Last I heard the restoration is supposed to be completed by 2010. My art with 1000+ views

  • You know that satisfying feeling you get when you feel that you just “nailed” the shot? I’m really happy with my Shutterspeed selection to capture the prop swirl on this P-51D Mustang called “Bald Eagle”. My art with 1000+ views

  • And you wonder why there are not more accidents at airshows!!! Maybe the picture is deceiving, but from where I was taking this shot, this looked a little too close for comfort ….. Pretty cool action stopped down to a split second.

  • An old scan of my Dad’s from many years ago at Avalon. HDR’d from one 600dpi scan and then I replaced the sky in Photoshop with what I thought was a more interesting one. Also like it in a Selenium Tone which is one of Lightroom’s presets so I left it as that and did a bit of touching up with the levels etc.

  • The oldest airworthy Spitfire in existence is operated by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Fittingly, this aircraft saw combat during the Battle of Britain in 1940, serving with 603 (City of Edinburgh) Squadron, which was then based at RAF Hornchurch. The aircraft is currently painted up to represent a Mk Ia called “Blue Peter”, which was the personal mount of 603 Sqn’s CO, Sqn Ldr George Denholm DFC. The aircraft is seen here touching down on arrival at Kemble Air Day 2008. /

  • Captured at the airshow in Langley, VA. The F-4 Phantom used to be my all time favorite airplane growing up, it was so cool to see one of the last few flight worthy F-4’s in this heritage flight formation. Trailing the F-4 is an F-22 Raptor and an F-15 Strike Eagle (lower plane).

  • The British Royal Air Force Red Arrows displaying some of their signature 9 ship formation flying skills. This image was recently taken during a rare US apparence at the Airpower Over Hampton Roads airshow in Langley, VA.

  • So this passed weekend I was taking some photos of this restored B-17G called the Liberty Belle. Do you ever just play around in Photoshop and then REALLY like how the changes affected your image? This is one of those for me. I know it’s TOTALLY over the top and I LOVE it ….... Hope you do as well. Click here to get more detail on this beautiful aircraft My art with 1000+ views

  • Sally B pays tribute to the bomber crews that did not make it home. / Shorham Airshow 2009 Operating the UK’s last remaining airworthy Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress aircraft is an important educational and heritage project, for this aircraft represents an important chapter in our history when formations of B-17 Flying Fortresses of the United States Eighth Army Air Force flew daylight missions out of British bases. Tragically, many thousands of young airmen were never to return, and the aircraft is kept flying as a tribute to the sacrifices made by these men and their allies in the Royal Air Force. The importance of this aircraft as a unique and tangible part of our national heritage has been officially recognised through appearances at high profile events such as the 1994 official D-Day commemorations, the VE Day flypast over the City of London in 1995 and most recently, in 2005, when she flew down The Mall and over Buckingham Palace during the VE Day 60th Anniversary commemorations.

  • 83 year old pilot conducting some pre-flight checks in the de Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk, while his wingman ensures the radio is set properly. Check out this slideshow I created from that day This image is currently on display at the Walls Fine Art gallery in Downtown Norfolk, VA.
