Of all my images, this is one that I am most proud of. This plane sits up on struts near the Griffith Council offices (Griffith, NSW). I shot it on a glarey, sunny day and it looked really, really crap – plain, flat and just dull. I had a vision in my head and after months of working it, discarding it, changing it and over-tinkering with it – over and over again until it almost drove me insane, I finally nailed exactly how I wanted it to look. Its nice to look at I guess but its the small personaly victory that warms me to this.

This design is based on the Paul Defiant fighter plane. Its a unique aircraft as it has a heavy calibre gun turret sitting in the middle. When these planes first came into service during WW2, enemy fighters would attack from the rear not realising the plane was quite capable of shooting then straight in the face. Now this design is available in a range of cool bags. I created this tribute for my good mate Andy Mueller who is going through a rough time at the moment. / For those who don’t know… Andy’s Buddy, Robert has suffered a series of strokes which have left him partially paralysed. / Andy has been travelling backwards and forwards from his home in Virginia to Arkansas, to try and help his friend get his affairs in order. / Andy, you are an inspiration mate. This image was created using two separate images (one of the C-47, the other of the clouds) Lots of layering, filters, dodge and burning and so on… Its meant to symbolise that even though dark clouds gather, there is a path that leads to victory… / or something like that. / :o)
