Agave with colours edited in PS.
Acrylic painting
Desert plant life has appealed to me for a long time. The different varieties of cactus, agave and yucca all have such interesting and unique shapes and are some of my favorites to paint. I found this agave near Old Town in Albuquerque. I recently sold 2 canvas prints of this image to a Redbubble mystery buyer – thank you!

I had planned on finishing my super top secret squirell tee that actually had meaning and valid social comment but my mind walked off on me and left me to have a cup of tea with Sanchez and Gavin. Sadly, they were out of tequila too (Gavin gets into the bottle all the time and isn’t very good at sharing) Can some one give me a hand with deciding WTF to do with Sanchez’s body? He looks like an anorexic teddy bear. Early days. Just you wait till I get my hands on a cracked copy of Illustrator and finally master the pen tool. I’ll be like He-Man on Greyskull waving it about like a bodybuilder in a furry nappy.
I have several agaves in my garden. I love the structure and the way they uncurl from the centre spike.

I had been seeing this gorgeous agave bloom every morning on my dog walks thinking that I should take a picture of it. Finally, one morning I took my camera along and got it with a full moon behind it. Lo and behold, that day we had a huge wind storm and the agave blossom was blown down. Perfect timing. The original moon in the photograph was replaced with another photograph of a perfect full moon. Photographed with a Panasonic DMC-FZ50. / “Agave Bloom” has been featured in: / DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY/September, 2009 / THE SCAVENGER HUNT/November, 2009 / VISUAL ARTISTS OF GREEN VALLEY/November, 2009 / /
