  • The sky presented the perfect background to show the precise detail that nature provides us with. The Dandylion puff is an intricate specimen made up of many pieces.

  • Where a lot of construction is taking place in East London, South Africa. I drive past this every morning I take the children to school, and with winter now just started, the light behind has been getting more and more delightful at this time of the morning. I had no idea that I would be so intrigued by metal monsters, when I am a nature-loving person. But here we go – I had to take a photo.

  • Photographed at the Museum of the American Indian, Washington DC. =-===-===-==-= / Wayne D. King’s images are a celebration of life, blending the real and the surreal to achieve a sense of place or time that reaches beyond the moment into a dreamlike quintessentialism designed to spark an emotional response. Using digital enhancement, handcrafting, painting, and sometimes even straight photography, King seeks to take the viewer to a place that is beyond simple truth to where truth meets passion, hope and dreams. • Bridal wreath is one of those spring flowers that are just enchanting. Mini bouquets of tiny white florets (thanks, Krys) interspersed along long willowy branches, these little beauties are a welcome sight as winter fades and spring greets us with her sunny blue skies.

  • What can I say? They flew beautifully and I nearly blinded myself several times as I was snapping at 400mm zoom but hey, it’s worth it. Luckily there was so much cloud (and moisture vapour I think) so that a picture of the sun was possible. NOTE. Reviewing this I noticed an omission. This is a composite of TWO photographs – the four jets against a totally diffused sun and the background here of the sun partially diffused. That should have been made clear but for some reason (stupidity probably!) I didn’t include that in the description as intended.

  • my daily self portrait on flickr with my canon 1000d and my lovely 50mm at f1.8 / Spring is here and I’m wearing my polka dot dress again! Ok I’ll wash my clothes tomorrow lol So many photos to edit so little time! • It wasafter 8:00 and a lot of the balloons were already in the sky. Of course then the battery ran out in my camera and I had to use my son’s, which is a Kodak V1073 Touchscreen Digital 10 Megapixals. The zoom is not as good as mine, but I think this and the next few turned out o.k. / Enjoy, / Teri

  • Grass against a hued sky in summertime.

  • I was going to leave this upload for later and add it as part of my ’ Highland Experience ’ portfolio but noticed that the ‘Northern Landscpe, group have a challenge entitled Lonely Tree and thought this might fit the bill. / It was shot at the foot of a dam which is located at the end of Glen Garry in the NW Highlands. It is the first time that I noticed the dam was open so I drove down to this spot where the rapids hit the Loch and low and behold this isolated tree, ’ against the odds’ standing firm against this awesome torrent of power. It was one of those moments when after after taking some shots you just stand back and gaze in awe at a truly increadible sight. The power of nature…...now that should have been the title..? Canon EOS 400D. 70-400mm. AP mode. Tripod and cable release. Polariser. CS3 to complete.

I have never been to the island with a digital before, and it was fun to go and try something new. The Sanibel Island Light is the first lighthouse on Florida’s Gulf coast north of Key West and the Dry Tortugas. It is located on the eastern tip of Sanibel Island, and was built to mark the entrance to San Carlos Bay for ships calling at the port of Punta Rassa, across San Carlos Bay from Sanibel Island. Residents of Sanibel Island first petitioned for a lighthouse in 1833, but no action was taken. In 1856 the Lighthouse Board recommended a lighthouse on Sanibel Island, but Congress took no action. In 1877 government workers surveyed the eastern end of the island and reserved it for a lighthouse. Congress finally appropriated funds for a lighthouse in 1883. The foundation for the new lighthouse was completed in early 1884, but the ship bringing ironwork for the tower sank two miles from Sanibel Island. A crew of hard-hat divers from Key West recovered all but two of the pieces for the tower. Punta Rassa became an important port in the 1830s and remained so up to the Spanish-American War. It was primarily used to ship cattle from Florida to Cuba. Until the railroads reached the area in the 1880s, ranchers drove their cattle from open ranges in central Florida to Punta Rassa for shipment to Cuba. The lighthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. The Coast Guard leases the light station site to the city of Sanibel, Florida.
