  • This shot is taken in the north of Rwanda near the DR Congo border. It showcases the absurd beauty of this broken land. Known as the land of one thousand hills Rwanda is bursting at the seams. • My work is featured in the group Painters In Modern Times / (Thanks Everyone at PIMT!) My painting is featured as the group icon for Painted Animals / (Thanks everyone!) Acrylic on Glass This is the print version of my painting This is the newest addition to my series “Journey Through Africa”, the other three included a Red Bishop bird, an African tree in a field and a giraffe in it’s habitat. This piece is of one of my favorite creatures, the blue poison dart frog. They are found in Africa and South America and were not discovered till around 1960’s. It’s stunning natural colors really attracted me to it in creating this work. This piece like the other two in the series was also painted on an antique mirror. I take something old and forgotten and create something new, yet try to keep the aged or classic feel throughout the piece. Usually just looking at a prospective mirror I see what I will paint next in it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did in creating it! / I am currently working on another new piece in this series… Here are the other works in the series and framed: / / / Some Originals AVAILABLE, if interested please inquire You can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios /

  • I need a big canvas print of this so I had to reprocess the whole thing. / Firstly, I merged the 6 shots 2 photos at a time, which resulted in flawless merging of the clouds and ‘better’ merging of the waves. After that I still spent about 20 minutes on the waves. You can only see merging traces at 100% zoom on the 70003600 resolution, on the previous one there was merging mistakes everywhere, visible at full view on the 1200700 resolution…so big improvement there. Huge improvement on shadows and highlights too. There’s barely a blown-out highlight or black shadow, where as the previous one had a lot of both. Colour and contrast: This version has much less contrast and it has true colour. All I did was increase the black of yellows and reds with selective colour. minor levels adjustments( too much blows out highlights and blackens the shadows). So overall, a much more natural look. And much more pleasing to look at. I think I’m probably gonna lose fav’s with this version because the colours are less interesting. But I’ll gain fav’s from the people who appreciate a properly exposed and processed nature photo? • Canvas Print sold of this artwork on 23 October 2009. Acrylic Painting on Artist Canvas Panel 18” x 24” (45,72cm x 60,96cm) commissioned. Completed 11 May 2008. ______ / My version of a scene from Baobab Alley in Madagascar. This alley is lined on both sides by these giant Baobab trees. It has been declared a National Tourist attratction in Madagascar. In the rest of the regions on this large island, these trees are being brought down at an alarming rate. I wanted to portray their plea by having them placed in such a ways as if they were holding “hands” as protection against MAN. The setting sun symbolises the possibility that these gentle giants may become extinct if we do not take care. / _____ / Image copyright: Mariaan Krog 2008 / _____ / For buying info, see top right of this page.
