  • False Bay in Fish Hoek on the Eastern coast of the peninsula of the Western Cape, near Cape Town, South Africa. I’ve deliberately been excluding man-made objects from the majority of my landscapes. I’ve been contemplating a new theme for my pictures… for now I’ll start including more man-made structures in my sea- and landscapes. I’m also enjoying DCE tools HDR of late. I appreciate any honest crit, please dont hesitate to point out what you dont like.

  • “Coffee Bay Defiance” ~ Blind woman in Coffee Bay, South Africa ~ 2007

  • On the wide open plains of the Kruger National Park, South Africa, we happened upon this large, lone bull. He seemed to be going somewhere, as he detoured around us slightly, wary of our clicking and whispering. When the brief encounter was over, we both went on our way, perhaps, I’d like to think, better for the meeting…

  • Even the Midwest can seem exotic at times. It may appear to be a shot of an African safari, but in reality, it’s just a few trees at the edge of our high school parking lot. Thanks for viewing!

  • FEATURED IN THE GROUP: Postcard Style / FEATURED IN THE GROUP: Indigenous to East & Southern Africa / TOP 10 (#8) IN A CHALLENGE: All Soft and Cuddlies The meerkat or suricate Suricata suricatta is a small mammal and a member of the mongoose family. It inhabits all parts of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana and South Africa. A group of meerkats is called a “mob”, “gang” or “clan”. A meerkat clan often contains about 20 meerkats at a time, but some super families have had 50 or more. Meerkats have an average life span of 12-14 years. / The suricata is called stokstertjie = “little stick-tail” in Dutch. / According to African popular belief, the meerkat is also known as the sun angel, as it protects villages from the moon devil or the werewolf which is believed to attack stray cattle or lone tribesmen. / Photograph was taken at the Monte Casino Bird and Reptile Park Johannesburg South Africa /

  • A dirt road in the Masai Mara, Africa, leading to a rainbow /

  • This was originally a photo I took in Botswana, at the Okavango Delta. It was the same sunset cruise that Resplendency was taken at. This was a bit later in the evening, on the way back to our campsite. Thanks to my new found love of texture layering, I was able to transform this photo completely. Tweaking of colour balance and layering a rusted texture with it has given it a more painted look. All done in Photoshop CS4 To me, it epitomises my need to explore the world and discover as much as I can. Original texture from www.grungetextures.com Sold as a Matted Print Featured in Insomniacs & Other Nightcrawlers Canon SX100IS / f4.3, 1/400, ISO 200 Original photo: / MCN: C854F-CA4A6-1F569
