I went on Honeymoon to Kenya and it was an amazing place. I’ve got some great shots of wildlife, but I wanted to do something different with this. I am not sure if you will like it, but I know a lot of my other stuff uses selective colouring or B&W so I wanted to try something else. This one Elephant stood away from the rest that you can see in the distance and his profile made for an interesting shot. Hope you like.
“THANK YOU” AnitaInverarity, for buying a print!! This is a colored pencil drawing that I created. The ink border is drawn free hand by me and then filled in with archival ink. The border and drawing: all on the same sheet, My borders are not separate from the drawings. This is a mixed media piece. I used prismacolor pencils and archival ink for the border. I used Strathmore, Vellum Bristol, 100# paper. / The total image size is 6.5” wide x 16.5” tall. I love to use vellum bristol for colored pencil work and smooth bristol for pen work. This drawing is mixed and totally on the vellum bristol paper. Any proceeds from the sale of this work on RB will be donated to The Philadelphia Mission. http://www.philadelphia33.org/

“Seeing is different than being told.” / Proverb from Kenya / —-—— As I researched Kenya, where this girl is from, I was struck by the fact that Kenya… is a butterfly rich country. And so it made sense to adorn this young one with the intense, piercing gaze… with the brilliance of butterflies. Dead tree in the Soususvlie, Namib Desert. Namibia The Soususvlie is a lake, long since dead for hundreds of years. The trees and life within it all died as the lake dried up. Everything within has been preserved by the massive amount of salt left in the ground. The cycle of life continues as a new lake will form over the next set of sand dunes, and this soususvlie will eventually be covered with sand as the dunes gradually progress and move over time. a fun depiction of Township life in Cape Town. I tried to show the sense of community that exists here.
A tree I photographed while in Chobe National Park, Botswana. It was a simple silhouette against a purple and pink sky. I played around with the colour balance and achieved a slightly blanched effect. Look lovely in this stylized lemur design. Design based off of an older artwork “The Lemur” (the original artwork has since gone missing during a house cleaning – not sure if it got accidentally thrown away or if it’s just hiding very well!). T-shirt recently sold on RB
