C17 at Avalon, Melbourne, Australia. The Boeing (formerly McDonnell Douglas) C-17 Globemaster III is a large military transport aircraft. The C-17 was developed for the United States Air Force from the 1980s to the early 1990s by McDonnell Douglas. The aircraft carries on the name of two previous United States military cargo aircraft, the C-74 Globemaster and the C-124 Globemaster II. The C-17 is used for rapid strategic airlift of troops and cargo to main operating bases or forward operating bases throughout the world. It has the ability to rapidly deploy a combat unit to a potential battle area and sustain it with on-going supplies. The C-17 is also capable of performing tactical airlift, medical evacuation and airdrop missions. / Panasonic FZ20
The first Lysanders entered service in June 1938 equipping squadrons for “Army Co-operation” and were initially used for message-dropping and artillery spotting. The Lysander is most famous for its work with the Special Operations Executive. The Lysander, with its superb short takeoff and landing capacities, was used whenever someone needed to be extracted from occupied France. / Elvington, York / Aug. 2005
Photo from inside an aeroplane.
I was in awe of the sky colour and contrast between the yellow wing tip during my flight home recently. Cameras fill my time more than the in flight magazine!
As requested by some BM friends, here is “Tail Up – Here we go!” in Sepia. / I don’t know if it looks right, I think it is not so good, perhaps B/W might be better, what do you think?
The Spitfire again this time in Black & White / with the help of my friend “Woodie”. / I think this is much better than the Sepia.
We were coming into Valencia airport when i saw the shadow of the plane on the ground. I just did a quick snap not thinking it would come out so well.
This is a Boeing B737-200 owned by Ryanair and advertising Hertz. Now retired from Ryaniar service. Early 737-100 & 200 series used JT8 engines (long thin engines) and changed on the -300’s to CFM56-3 engines (short stubby engines).

North American Texan (Harvard) ready for take-off / at Audley End Field. Noisy, and not the easiest of / aeroplanes to fly. During the Korean War and to a lesser extent, the / Vietnam war, T-6s were pressed into service as / forward air control aircraft. These aircraft were / designated T-6 “Mosquito”s. / Could be fitted with bomb racks and machine guns.

Sunset as seen from the front of the mighty BN-2A Mk 3 Trislander. / This was as I was heading away from Alderney on the Aurigny plane. The smeary flares are from scratches on the Perspex window, and it was VERY cold out there.
Nose Art on a Republic Thunderchief. / I didn’t take a picture of this aeroplane at the / Titusville Valiant Air Command Warbirds Museum. / The aeroplane was in a bad need of repair but / the Nose Art was still intact.
I’ve never seen another plane in the sky so close to my plane before! I’m glad it didn’t come too close! Taken with my canon IXUS 70- was about to land in Frankfurt, Germany
