I told him what I was trying to photograph and with what. First thing he told me was I had chosen the hardest things to first try to photograph with telephoto lens… the moon. He gave me some good tutoring, and agreed when I told him I had to ditch the flimsy tripod and get a more sturdy, steady one. I have it now. :) Learned much, and will put what I have learned to good use…. but not right now. I’m quite tired.

That’s it. Done. Finito. I’ll continue helping animals – but people can just get screwed. Yeah, I said it. I’m sick of it. I have a lot of experience in printing and publishing. This includes doing graphic design for major newspapers and international magazines. This includes advertising. I’m currently doing licensed work for major players in the movie and tv industry – Disney, DreamWorks, Warner Brothers, and tons more. I’d like to think that all my years of involvement would at least give me a fucking leg to stand on. Throw in on top of that the fact that I’m honest, caring and giving to a fault. When I see someone that might potentially end up in trouble, my instinct is to try and help. Granted, this is more successful with my friends and family than it is to strangers; I understand that. Here’s what I’m ranting about. Lately I’ve seen a lot of copyright issues on Red Bubble. I have nothing against any of the artists – in fact, I think they’re pretty damned talented. However, I made the huge mistake of pointing out to one artist that the subject of one of her photos was a major brand and could potentially be a legal problem for her – and for Red Bubble. I love RB and would hate to see any law suit come against this site! So all I said was that __ is a copyrighted brand. Is that so terrible? I mean really, is it? Here’s what I got back: / ”...tell Crockpot to mind his own fucking buisness…” / “Tell dimwad to put nike into the search engine…then ford…then chev…then coke…then tell him to get a life…” / “ppl r just gay n have no life lol” (As an aside, yeah, you can put any number of brand names into a search engine – that doesn’t mean you can photograph these things and sell the photos for profit!) And what do gay people have to do with it?? Some of my best friends are gay! And they sure as hell are better people than the above mentioned. Anyway, I just needed to get that off my chest. / Now you know why I’m gonna be a LOT more quiet on RB – and everywhere else too. People just fucking SUCK.

  • Alright Who Laid The Egg???

You guessed it! My 8yr old Moluccan Cockatoo laid her first egg last night at 8:05 p.m. / Unfortunately we havent a male to fertilize it. But by all indications she has proved herself as being mature now and shows an eagerness to breed. Unlike my other birds who are older. Yes I also have 2 Blue & Gold Macaws 9 & 10 y.o., and a African Grey Congo who about 14+ y.o. / Its actually quite the event as she had been acting horribly lately, I had assumed she was just being a brat, as some of you know who own birds, and especially these they can sound like Haller Monkeys when they go on a rant! So I had been bringing her into the house daily for the last 2 weeks, as normally they live in the garage, and if loud enough can cause neighbors to get upset. So she’d sit in the upstairs extra bedroom caged and stare out the window, then around 5pm she’d have another screaming fit so she’d go into a separate closet of darkness so she would take a nap and be quiet, then 11 pm go back out to her cage in the garage for the night. No, Im not cruel, but i do know how to shut them up after 11 yrs experience! / Now first i thought she was just demanding attention, then it crossed my mind uh oh maybe she has a egg binding situation (laymans terms: an egg that gets stuck in the oviduct, and requires ugent medical attention.) So i figured okay well when she’s in the closet situation i laid blankets over the large pet carrier to increase the warmth/humidity level (helps with binding), she seemed to like it and stopped yelling right away, i figured whatever floats her boat. What i had been noticing for the last week daily, is that all the newspaper inside was all shredded into millions of pieces, and id change it everyday! Figured she was just bore and figured it was a way to take out frustration….but Hmmm…more like nesting actually! Now, She actually appears to handle her egg with gentleness and care, which is a good sign she will be a good mommy some day. Trust me with a beak that can has a cruching ability of 500 lbs per square inch thats amazing. And Talons which desparately need clipping and are razor sharp. Now i let her keep the egg last night so she can experience it, but the books say i should remove it right away. So as a test the next morning, when her back was turned i removed the egg , but when she turned back she became frantic, and searched, well i put it outside the cage and when she saw it then she was calm again. I have now transfered her to another cage, and she has started eating her seeds, (a good sign, since she had been hardly eating lately) and hasnt started a screamin fit or anything. Probably cause she knows its in the other cage…... Any breeders out their with suggestions to make this an easy adjustment for her?

I have so many photos on my PC… mostly family and holiday snaps. Now as I’m getting more and more interested in my surroundings … thanks to joining RB… I’m adding ‘snaps’ everyday. I suppose, given time, I will become more ruthless and delete those that are not so interesting or of poor quality but I can’t bear to do that, just yet! So…. where to store all these photographs? / What do you suggest as the best way? I thought about a seperate hard-drive or smaller dongle but I understand there is no way that is guaranteed 100% safe. / I am wondering if a web-site would be the best option – but which to choose?

So far, I’ve painted from photos. / I have painted copies from the masters. / Copies from other artists ideas. / I just run out of ideas. / Either that, or I just paint too fast. / I tend to be impatient. / Any suggestions? / Thanks! p.s. – Our digital camera broke, so I haven’t been unloading my paintings, but I am still painting. :)

I know a lot of you are working as creative professionals, and I just wanted to know how you manage to sustain yourself… emotionally. Lately I feel as if people judge me for not having a full time job, or for drawing pictures for a living, and it’s starting to really get to me. Of course it’s easy to say that one should just shrug it off, and live one’s life as one pleases, however the jabs and jaunts are starting to poke through my bubble and I don’t like it. It feels as if I’m never going to achieve other people’s versions of “success” and my own version may as well be unobtainable as well. /pity party

Hi everyone, as I mentioned before I would like to make the transition from black and white graphite to coloured pencil. / However, I’m realising that there are so many different brands and types out there that I’m gonna need a bit of help choosing my next set of serious pencils! So where better than Redbubble to ask for a bit of advise! / What I would like to know is what all of you guys find the best to use and would recommend I draw with? I did have a few karismacolor pencils a few years ago and these were really good but not so suprisingly I don’t have a spare £130-50 to get me a full set! (I think these have been discontinued anyway so you could say I’m a bit late off the mark for that one!) All I,ve worked out so far is they need to be blendable but not too soft. / Anyone have any suggestions? / Thanks everyone / =)

Hello Fellow Redbubblers, I have requested redbubble create a seperate cart and checkout process for the bubblesites a while back to keep potential buyers within the bubblesite area. Redbubble was very receptive about the idea and was going to work with the design team to see if the changes could be made. But it has been a while now and the changes are still not in place. I have been reluctant to send out my bubblesite link to prospective buyers list, because this change has not been implemented. As a result, I am now considering opening a seperate photography website to sell my works through, instead of trying to push sales through redbubble. Can anyone recommend a good hosting provider that does not charge to much for domain registration and monthly hosting services? Ideally, I would like to find a solution that provides good working ecommerce related templates for selling photography works, including check out cart, my own domain name, etc… Any suggestions or ideas from my fellow rebubblers on respectable providers would be greatly appreciated. There are a lot of ads, but just not sure which ones are the most trusted. In the meantime, I hope redbubble makes the changes I requested a while back so I can pursue promoting sales through the bubblesite. Thanks so much! / Robert Boretti
