This is another attempt at Gotta Rock, altering it substantially from the actual location. The second image in this body of work with a human figure, this painting develops a theme that has preoccupied me for some time; the sense of displacement and alienation someone of western decent can feel in the face of the Australian landscape.

Watching the constant surge of the Atlantic against the jagged fangs of rock, I was thinking of the eternal battle of these two great adversaries. The sea constantly battering the coastline and the land just as strongly resisting. I wished I could have been there with a really big storm, the views would have been spectacular. On the north coast of Newfoundland near Bonavista, in 1967, taken with a 35mm.Exakta Varex with F2.0 Biotar lens, high speed Ektachrome film.

I also like how if you go to the 100% group page right now it looks like there is an owl in the featured art top row looking down at my parrot disapprovingly, while he (the parrot) giggles hysterically at the scantily clad woman to his left. lol.
