Horseshoe Bend is the name for a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, in the United States. It is located slightly downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell, about four miles or 6 km south of Page. Featured in “AMERICA’s National Parks and WILDLIFE Habitat” – June 2009. A very narrow slot canyon appropriately named Spooky Gulch twists and turns for several hundred meters through a dry desert landscape. Its walls tower many meters overhead while the opening in front of you seems to get smaller and smaller. Those hikers that are both brave and thin enough to fit through will find that they are able to make it to the opposite side. The brother and sister recognized River from last fall and they both came to say “hello”. The “brand-new” fawn followed suit as her brother and sister seemed to know us and thought of us as “friends”. :) Before they circled my overjoyed dog and they all ran off together, they first make sure that they got their spring morning “family photo” taken. :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Algonquin Park

For an online painting-challenge, we where asked to make an image that would represent Australia! / It interested me, but did not know exactly how I would do it! / I ended up on the site of a couple of Globetrotters! http://www.bourlingueurs.com/ / I scrutinized their photos and found 2 who appealed me very much! / One of Ayers Rock , and one of a crashed car in the middle of the dessert! / I melted them together to one photo! / Mark warned me that I painted “Kata Tjuta” instead of “Ayers Rock”! The representation of this mountain and that derelict car described in my mind how I see Australia! / Beautiful nature and heritage nurtured by the Aboriginals, and the car representing the pioneers, adventurers and technology trying to find its place in that great big continent! A spectacular flowstone formation dwarfs a cave explorer in an enormous stream cave in western Thailand. The cave, Tham Lum Khao Ngu, is located in a National Park of the same name in Kanchanaburi Province west of Bangkok. The lighting is natural sunlight filtering into the cave from an upstream entrance and a karst window downstream. The caver is in the picture to give the formation scale. The picture was taken with a Nikon FM2 set on a tripod with shutter release cable and an exposure of about 2 seconds, using Kodachrome film.
