Chinese Red Fan Girl stands before a warm glowing screen, patiently waiting for her little friend from Japan, ‘Little Blue Kimono’ to arrive. Chinese Red Fan Girl wears a pair of geta on her tootsies, a gift from ‘Little Blue’ The kanji symbols in the background on the screen translate into ‘One’s Dearest Wish’

Oil Pastel And Acrylic (With minor digital enhancements) Here’s Ophelia all dressed up for a party that she’s hosting! A party that celebrates all that life has to offer,both the good and not so good :D She’s wearing her new flower feather clips and a ribbon belt to adorn her waist. All who read this will be invited! A belief that Life is to be celebrated, not just the ups but the downs too. It is easier to give thanks and rejoice when things go well for us but can we still do the same when things dont turn out the way we want them to? In dry or in bountiful times, I keep reminding myself to count my blessings…to adopt the mindset of abundance and not of scacity. Sales of this Design? – 1 sale so far :) / / ’’Asian Series’ card by Karin Taylor This is one of my favourite pieces in the oriental series. / Two little friends falling asleep in their little boats whilst fishing for their supper. / I really enjoyed mixing the colours for this painting, I used colour swatches from paint charts to decide on the colour scheme, and just went to work intuitively mixing til I got the right colours…they are grungier than my other pics and I love the effect…hope you like them too :D

Even nuns crave the simple pleasure of icecream… and there is a rebel amoung them with a calyppo! I drew this after seeing a group of nuns buying icecream (and yes, one bought a calyppo) when i was on holiday in Queensland. There was something absolutely adorable about teh idea, and I simply HAD to get it down!

Oil Pastel and Acrylic on old wood with slight digital enhancements Ophelia, puzzled by the radical transformation that had taken place overnight to this butterfly friend of hers, thought to herself, “She was in a white thread-like casing yesterday, how did all that happen so fast? There must be something magical about that case!” This is inspired by a book Hope For The Flowers by Trina Paulus. This is a cute and yet thought provoking story about two caterpillars who because they mistake the meaning of their urge to get high, get entangled climbing a horrible “caterpillar pillar”. And for two caterpillars, we all know, surrendering to the cocoon is the only way to finally fly. Hope For the Flowers is a book that celebrates HOPE. My fave lines from the book is “How does one become a butterfly?” She asked pensively. “You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.” We are all meant to be as beautiful and free like the butterflies, that’s our destiny…as we free ourselves to be who we really are…and together with our innate talents,we bring hope to the world around us, bringing change inevitably around us :D / You can view and buy my other “Metamorphosis” creations from my Zazzle Gallery:

Acrylic On Canvas For those who may not be that familiar with Phoebe, she’s a patchwork bunny doll and the baby of the trio. She enjoys putting on all kinds of quirky caps and hats, she is never seen without them! This is how my first serious painting looks like and I chose to paint an owl. That was like 6 years ago I think :D Very few had seen this. When I was painting this, I was thinking “If I were an owl, I would be able to hear the sweet whispers of lovers in the park.”...yep, in case you are wondering, those are sound waves, owls have such fantastic hearing that’s simply amazing!! I always treasure the beginner’s spirit and I kept reminding myself not to lose it….because once you become used to something, it loses that magic, It is now nicely framed and hanging in the most intimate part of my apartment.
