Our Lab Puppy at 8 wks old. / Hemi was a rescue from a kill shelter in Tennessee. We adopted him when he was 8 wks old. At the time we recieved him he was on 4 medications and not eating very well on his own ( I was spoon feeding him). After a couple of days he stopped eating and off to the vet we went. He spent 2 weeks at the vets office with IV’s hooked to him ( I didn’t think he was coming home I was very upset) while they ran tests and pumped him up with puppy power I paced the floors. When Hemi came home he was 8lbs and had 6 meds now for the next 10 days. I boiled chicken ground up with puppy chow and spoon fed him to make sure he received his meds on a full tummy and that all bodily functions were working correctly. After 2 weeks Hemi was eating on his own and received a clean bill of health from his vet. Today Hemi is 1 yr old weighs 85lbs and is extremely intelligent… he sits, lays down, shakes hands, plays ball & retrieves anything, catches a frisbee, plays soccer and walks about 4 miles a day and last but not least wears me out. He is my constant companion and I love him and hope he is with us for a very long time. / Please be Part of the Solution & not Part of the Problem… / Always adopt/rescue an animal…there are so many to be saved! Here is a pic of Hemi today…he turns 2yrs on Valentines Day! / /

This photo was taken at the Animal Welfare League in Wingfield, South Australia. No photoshop was used other than to alter the colours a bit. The puppy’s smile, although blurred due to depth of field (i was using a 50mm f/1.4 at 1.4 focussing only on her eyes) was real! This puppy was adopted shortly after.

This is my 12 year old puppy Mattie. Isn’t she beautiful? She is my life, she is my muse. I’m downloading many photos of Mattie in hopes of raising money. She recently passed away after fighting liver cancer. She fought the horrible disease for 2 months with chemotherapy, but in the end it took her life. The last chemo session, she looked at me and softly said she was tired. So, I took her home and made a bed on the floor for the 2 of us and I held her through the night until she passed away in my arms the next morning. She is missed every second of every day, but she will live on forever in the hearts of everyone she met and new. So every t-shirt and piece of artwork I sell will go to paying off her final $10,000 of doctor bills. I love you my perfect angel.

Here are Jazzy on the left and Chloe on the right. Two rescue dogs. Our friend adopted Jazzy, and we adopted Chloe. We got her when she was 2 1/2, she is now 4. They lived together before we adopted them, and we consider them half-sisters. Chloe loves when Jazzy comes to visit, as they love to romp in our backyard. / We don’t know who’s happier, us or the dogs. iams is trying to reach a goal of 1,000,000 pet adoptions Consider making a home for a wonderful animal, this holiday season. This is Harley, my golden retriever/australian shepherd mix. Maybe a little chow also. We adopted Harley 2 years ago. This guy only had a home for about a year and 4 months in all of his 6 years before us adopting him. He was living at a shelter the rest of the time. Before, some thought of him as to shy to be adoptable, but I am very glad that others did not feel the same way. He was in several different states before coming to us. So it shows, if you are meant to be together, it is going to happen. He finally made his way to IL. and to us.

Took this today (01/10/09), of Harley in the snow. He was shaking the snow off of himself. We adopted him two years ago, from a shelter. He is a golden retriever/australian sheperd mix, with some chow. Great guy! The next day we took her to the vet and found out she had parvo. 14 days in the vet and almost $2000 later she’s fine and ours … goodness… She’s half black lab and half Bassett hound. Her name is Siren due to the fact that I couldn’t ignore her call when I saw her at the pound.. Nikon D80

She was found in Bend Oregon and only about 10 lbs (pugs should be about 15-17 lbs). They figured she was about 10 months old and had a liter. When they found her there were no puppies to be found.
